My son's gut issues started the week he was born, perhaps from something in utero developmentally, something in his (my) diet or from the vaccine given to him the day of his birth, etc. I don't know the cause...but If he regressed into autism it had to be at a very young age. We know now that there are at least three types of autism, at least the way that it presents with the associated symptoms involved. While vaccines are apparently the trigger for many children's regressive autism, there are certainly other factors involved for many others.

Who else would bet money that John_kindhearted and PNTKL are the same person or at least related in some way? Hard to understand...not a first language speaker? and quoting the Kuran...yep...although pntkl says that he is LDS it is doubtful that he is a believer in our religion from what is said and the way it is said...FWIW

I'm trying this again this year...what I learned last year is that tomatoes take too much water to grow in containers...you would need an automatic feed system to avoid watering many times a day in the late summer. The lettuce type plants did very well but were very strong tasting and so we only ate them when combined with mild store bought lettuce. But all my strawberries made it through the winter in these containers and did really well producing last year as well. I didn't plant a lot of other vegetables in containers to compare.

I just saw that the poster of notes found in the first link has greatly added to them. I know that this is not an interesting topic to most, but for those few out there that study the scriptures, his thoughts can be interesting, again I do not agree with all of them. (Oh and Randy Hall is not a personal friend of mine and I in no way benefit (except that I find them interesting and think some others might too) from sharing his thoughts...FWIW)

Jewish Feast Days, Signs in the Heavens, Matthew 24, etc.

He says that George Washington consecrated the nation at ground zero - St. Paul's Chapel He says judgment returns to the ground of consecration - God is calling back a nation - the Sycamore tree saved the Chapel from destruction and it has now been replaced by a Cedar (Erez) tree, From interview: "Sid: So in other words, God wanted the shmita, the Sabbath rest to bless His people, Israel. But if they would not follow His laws, it ended up being a judgment. And for every shmita they did not observe during (Israel's) defiance, they were dispersed. (Talking of 70 year dispersal.) JONATHAN: So the shmita now becomes a sign of judgment and it touches specifically a nation's economic or financial reality. So America, when did this whole financial collapse happen? It happened in 2008 in one week...That same week was the anniversary week of the first shaking, or the first calamity, which was 9/11...Which also...Involved the wiping away of the financial realm...during the economic collapse, was there a pinnacle day? There was. What was it? It was the greatest stock market point crash in the history of Wall Street up to that time...It happened on the exact day, the 29th day of Elul, in Hebrew, which is the exact day when all the finances had to be wiped away, the greatest stock market crash in history (DOW down 777). SID: If I'm understanding you right, because the Hebrew calendar is different than the calendar for the rest of the world, it occurred on the shmita, the worse stock market crash on the first shmita, seven years later happened one even worse than that. So if we're talking about a shmita in 2001 and then we're talking about a shmita in 2008, when's the next shmita? JONATHAN: The next shmita is 2015... SID: But wait a second if we had the worse stock market crash on that first shmita and then one worse than that on the second, I wonder. You know what? These are progressive warning judgments. It could be even worse..." *** Stefen Lopez (3 Aug 2010) "Why 2015-16 is the Jubilee Year" (Why 2015-16 is the Jubilee Year) Well, the last Jubilee year occured from Sept. 24, 1966 to Oct. 13, 1967 (these dates are from atonement/yom kippur 1966 to atonement/yom kippur 1967). This entire span of time from Sept. 24, 1966 to Oct. 13, 1967 of the following year was the Jubilee year. And it was WITHIN this period of time (Jubilee) that Israel recaptured Jerusalem on June 7, 1967. So looking to the next Jubilee we count 49 years of 365.25 days, from Sept. 24, 1966 and literally end up at Sept. 22, 2015...with the next day September 23, 2015 being the START of that extra 50th Jubilee year, which would run through to Oct. 12, 2016. Perhaps this is why Rabbi's in Israel celebrated the last Shmita (Sabbath) year from Sept 22, 2007 to Oct 8, 2008 Shmita - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, because the next Shmita year ocurrs 7 yrs later from Oct. 4, 2014 to Sept. 22, 2015, the next day being Jubilee from Sept. 23, 2015 to Oct. 11, 2016.... But I think some ambiguity ocurrs when we don't consider that a Hebrew year intersects 2 of our years... Here are the past Shmita years which have been observed by rabbis since Israel became a nation: ...2014-15 (this will be 7th Shmita/49th year, following year 2015-16 is Jubilee)... Jubilee years can be confusing because the bible doesn't specify whether they ocurr within the 7 year cycle. For instance the 50th year is Jubilee, but it is also the 1st year of the next 7 year cycle. There's division over this question among scholars. However, if the Rabbi's say the next shmita year is from 2014-15, then 2015-16 would be the next Jubilee. *** As you can see these are differing opinions that I still find interesting. The start of the "next jubilee" differs by a year or two from the first post on this thread. Yet I believe there will be some kind of significance to the Blood Moons/Solar Eclipses that fall on (near :) ) Jewish "Divine Appointment" dates. So far these signs have been to the Jews in Israel so far, so while it is tempting to think it could pertain to the Israelites and the New Jerusalem that would be a far stretch at this point. Still watching... -
"The End of the World?"...Said President Packer

"The End of the World?"...Said President Packer
lds2 replied to lds2's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
From Elder Ballard's talk at the BYU-I commencement on April 6, 2012... "As I prepared for this talk today, I asked for guidance to know what message our Heavenly Father would want me to share with you. The calming and assuring words spoken by the Lord to Joseph Smith came to my mind: “Be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours…and the riches of eternity” (D&C 78:1. What I believe the Lord wants me to tell you is that you should replace fear with faith—faith in God and the power of the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ." "So, I urge you to make a commitment to yourself and to Heavenly Father to dedicate your life and consecrate your time and talents to the building up of the Church of Jesus Christ in anticipation of the Savior’s second coming. Let the motive of your thoughts and actions be to glorify God and to bless your fellowman. Let this desire inspire you to greet each new morning with enthusiasm, let it fuel your thoughts and actions throughout each day. If you do this, you will be blessed in the midst of a world that is fast losing its way, and you and your loved ones will be secure and happy. This does not mean that you will not face trials and tests, but it does mean you will have the spiritual power to handle them with faith and trust in the Lord." -
I really appreciate all the thoughts on this thread and want to thank everyone that participated. I was just reading about the Second Comforter this morning and these posts particularly spoke to me this morning. Well it's time to go to Church and get out and "do."

*** Some of these are a bit more expensive because they include the meat...but when you are making meals like bean soups with biscuits, or breakfast mixes, etc. they are very inexpensive family meals...but the convenience is great! and you know how many meals you have towards your three month supply! Here's a fun way to work on your 3 - month food storage. (I just bought quart jars from DI for 25 cents when they had too many) "Well I want to share something that’s gotten me pretty excited, and maybe it’s something that will excite you as well: meals in a jar. These will: Help you take inventory of your food storage from a different perspective. Help you rotate your food storage. Give you a better idea of how much you actually need to store of specific food items that you know your family likes. Allow you to experiment and work with your food storage without compromising the shelf life. Allow you to create healthy, delicious, and inexpensive “fast food” meals for your family with a 5-8 year shelf life. Extend the shelf life of some of your spices, pastas, and other store packaged items. Give you one skillet meals that will be ready in less than 30 minutes. It always is frustrating that people talk when one is trying to listen...I'm not nice enough to politely listen...I'm a shusher...my family will verify this :) especially during general conference and Sacrament meetings. I even did my best to kindly shush a lady near me at a conference recently who kept talking directly to the speaker as if they were having a two way conversation and it was very distracting. She was so excited about what he was saying I think that she didn't even realize what she was doing. As far as those dreams being from a site where dreams are discussed, I don't think so. One sister was sharing her dream in a stake meeting last week and the other had never heard of other people having dreams about food, she shared it when food was being canned. But there was nothing else about leaving or whatever. I think she was more thinking that the food would be asked for at some point to help feed the poor and the needy. But taking normal dreams literally even when they are recurring is almost always a big mistake. As y'all know I find dates, dreams and things like that interesting...and almost none of these things EVER happen the way people dream/think. However, when a lot of people start having similar dreams I find that very interesting...and some do seem to have the "Gift" of dreams where their's are more of a spiritual/vision nature. Soo...I was wondering since it was just talked about in conference how often people might have what they feel are prophetic dreams/visions and when they have them, etc. Again, we have to be careful that we don't offend the Spirit...but since I don't have prophetic dreams or even nice dreams that I remember I was wondering about other people's experience with these. Does this mostly happen for people that wake slowly, early morning, have a family history of visions/dreaming, or ??? Now nightmares are another matter. I have had the English Essay Exam dream where my mind is completely blank and woken up from that on many occasions. I also find losing the diamond in my wedding ring sufficiently horrifying to wake myself up. Several people among my ancestors have had NDEs or visions, but none that I know of from this generation...lot's of inspiration though.

I don't remember my dreams unless they are nightmares and I wake up. But some in my stake have had dreams that they believe will happen, one about food being too expensive to buy at the store, and another of a meeting where those who had their food storage were invited to stay after Sacrament. They were very brief but they felt that they were significant dreams that they should remember. President Hinckley said that the prophecies of Joel have been fulfilled which includes people dreaming in the last days. Elder Richard J. Scott said in conference, "It is important that our daily activities do not distract us from listening to the Spirit. Revelation can also be given in a dream when there is an almost imperceptible transition from sleep to wakefulness. If you strive to capture the content immediately, you can record great detail, but otherwise it fades rapidly. Inspired communication in the night is generally accompanied by a sacred feeling for the entire experience...It is the Lord doing the teaching through the Holy Ghost... When it is for the Lord’s purposes, He can bring anything to our remembrance. That should not weaken our determination to record impressions of the Spirit. Inspiration carefully recorded shows God that His communications are sacred to us. Recording will also enhance our ability to recall revelation. Such recording of direction of the Spirit should be protected from loss or intrusion by others." So I was wondering...have you had dreams that have led you to answers of question you have had or warned you of future challenges? As always, when we talk about others dreams or inspiration we should treat these things with respect, and also be careful we don't share sacred things that should "be protected." Also, if you have such dreams accompanied by a sacred feeling do they happen when you are going to sleep, do you wake up from a sound sleep, are they gradual happenings early in the morning or later as your waking? or ??

I agree such righteous people could not sit idly by and watch others go without, they would take the counsel from the First Presidency to become self-reliant so they could then bless their neighbors and the poor and the needy. I've seen the work ethic of righteous missionaries and I've seen righteous Saints work just as hard to serve/help their neighbors/ward members. When there is no poor among us and all work to help themselves as much as possible and their neighbor...that will be awesome!

My belief why 50 percent of people believe that there could be a link between vaccines and autism is that probably about half know through a family member, a friend's family member, or a friend's, friend's family member of someone who was injured by a vaccine. Adverse Outcomes Following Vaccination Redrockcloud This is a site linked to over 2,100 Vaccine Injury stories...1,100 children's vaccine injury stories were sent directly to them and this is just the tip of the iceberg of those with such stories...you won't find my friends' stories here but they are very similar. Daisy K. I live in Missouri. My son got a high fever and febrile convulsion lasting 5 minutes 10 days before his 1st B-day (1995) I know he got a shot at the doctor's office but there is nothing in his record or on the vaccine record that they write on. In 2007 my son's pediatrician retired and we had an appointment with a new doctor (I had went to High School with him) I questioned why the vaccine at the very first appointment, that I was told that he would not need any more vaccines until he was older and why 2 vs just one? The doctor assured me that my son would be fine. He received the TDAP booster and Hepatitis A vaccine. He had a reaction at the site of the vaccine and by Monday when he returned to school all the progress that he had been making with reading, writing was gone. It's as if everything was wiped or erased from his memory. I don't know if he had a seizure and have no way of knowing but I do know for certain that once again something happened to my child and it was devastating. To have to start all over. He still has not recouped all that he had lost. Both his teacher and tutor noted the regression. Needless to say I have refused to give him the 2nd Hepatitis A vaccine or any vaccine for that matter including the flu vaccine. Chris Pasley I too have a vaccine injured child. The first signs came about four hours after his four month old vaccination schedule. Our once happy, cheerful, giggling child changed that day. He became distant, inconsolable, ill-tempered, never to be the same again. I have had people tell me that the change I saw in my child did not happen. My answer to this is I know my child like most parents do, I know every facial expression he makes and what it means. I know when he is happy, I know when he is sad, I know when he does not feel good, and I know my child! I know without any shadow of a doubt vaccines caused the issues he lives with today. Martha Codi Payne My oldest son was a little late receiving his vaccines at 18 months and the doctors decided to "catch up" and give them to him all at once. In all, there were 7-8 vaccines, combined into 5 shots. I was nervous, as I had a vague knowledge of the dangers of vaccinations, but figured the doctors knew what was best. We took my son home and he began running a very high fever that alarmed me. The very next day, we took him back to the doctor, the fever was still very high. I was told it was normal and to give it a few days. My son is now 2 1/2 and has almost halted intelligent development from that point. He is displaying symptoms of autism. Before then, he was a normal, if not slightly advanced, toddler. I can literally pinpoint the halted development to when he received his vaccines. From now on, I am choosing to discontinue vaccinations. I have my oldest son in speech therapy, which has helped very little. I am praying for a recovery. etc. etc. etc.

Thanks Suzie for your kind input. Of course when any calamity befalls there is a spiritual/psychological component in relation to that for those affected/effected. Parents of chronically disabled children often go through the stages of grief regarding their child's earthly potential, etc. Watching your children suffer is especiallly difficult. Looking for answers and ways to help are not just a psychological coping method but an actual responsibility I believe of faithful and good parents. When my son was first diagnosed it was at the end of the age of the "refrigerator mother" cause of autism theory. Many "experts" still believed mothers were the cause of their children being autistic because of coldness and neglect. Had there not been parents "knowing" that their children were actually sick and searching for answers I believe we would still be stuck in that false Freudian based theory. After that came the belief that Here is what David Kirby (a respected journalist until he got involved in the autism debate and has since been presecuted and villified) said about this "debate," There is clearly no single cause of autism, and we are not going to find answers looking only at genes, or for that matter, only at thimerosal or MMR...I do not believe that better diagnosis and wider awareness can explain away a tidal wave of suffering. Such dinosaur mentality never helped a single child, and most credible scientists are abandoning it...(gives quotes from prestigious researchers) In my opinion, many children with autism are toxic. Some thing or things happened to make them sick. Unfortunately, our world has become a hazardous juggernaut through which increasingly fewer infants seem to emerge unscathed. We need to identify what is blocking their way, and fix it. I know that many people will say the vaccine issue has been thoroughly investigated and debunked. I honestly wish that were the case, but it simply is not true. All of the "vaccine-autism" studies you hear about investigated just one childhood vaccine out of 14 (MMR), or one vaccine ingredient out of dozens (thimerosal). That is like announcing that air pollution does not cause lung cancer because you looked at carbon monoxide, alone, and hydrogen sulfide, alone, and found no link. Moreover, many of the large epidemiological studies that purport to show no association between MMR or thimerosal and autism were conducted by people with vested interests -- financial or professional -- in defending vaccines and vaccine programs. Much worse than that, the vast majority of these studies were marked by methodological flaws that limit their usefulness and legitimacy. A thorough point-by-point rebuttal of the epidemiology will soon be published by the advocacy group SafeMinds. What we do know is that reported autism rates began to explode right around the 1987-88 birth cohorts in the United States and a few other western countries, according to an EPA study. "The greatest increase in ASD prevalence occurred in cohorts born between 1987 and 1992 across the United States," the EPA study concluded. Rates did not begin to increase in developing countries until a number of years later. U.S. special education data found the exact same thing:..." Balance Tips toward Environment as Heritability Ebbs in Autism? Non-inherited Genetic Factors Also in the Mix The largest and most rigorous twin study of its kind to date has found that shared environment influences susceptibility to autism more than previously thought...The study, supported by the National Institutes of Health, found that shared environmental factors — experiences and exposures common to both twin individuals — accounted for 55 percent of strict autism and 58 percent of more broadly defined autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Genetic heritability accounted for 37 percent of autism and 38 percent of ASD. Random environmental factors not shared among twins play a much smaller role. Earlier twin studies had estimated the genetic heritability of autism to be as high as 90 percent, due to much lower estimates of concordance — both members of a twin pair having the disorder — in fraternal twins. The new study found such concordance to be four to five times higher. "High fraternal twin concordance relative to identical twin concordance underscores the importance of both the environment and moderate genetic heritability in predisposing for autism," explained Joachim Hallmayer, M.D., of Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif. a grantee of the NIH's National Institute of Mental Health. "Both types of twin pairs are more often concordant than what would be expected from the frequency of autism in the general population. However, the high concordance among individuals who share only half their genes relative to those who share all of their genes implies a bigger role for shared environmental factors." Certainly, not every study as not all studies I am posting are related to a statistical relationship between autism and (fill in the blank). But there are a lot of such articles out there right now. This is common right after the increased numbers data comes out from the CDC or other sources. Soooo....here's another recent one... Spontaneous Gene Glitches Linked to Autism Risk with Older Dads Although Daly and colleagues found evidence for only a modest role of the chance mutations in autism, those pinpointed were biologically related to each other and to genes previously implicated in autism. The Eichler team turned up clues to how environmental factors might influence genetics. The high turnover in a male’s sperm cells across the lifespan increases the chance for errors to occur in the genetic translation process. These can be passed-on to the offspring’s DNA, even though they are not present in the father’s DNA. This risk may worsen with aging. The researchers discovered a four-fold marked paternal bias in the origins of 51 spontaneous mutations in coding areas of genes that was positively correlated with increasing age of the father. So such spontaneous mutations could account for findings of an earlier study that found fathers of boys with autism were six times – and of girls 17 times – more likely to be in their 40’s than their 20’s. ..Other researchers were quick to point out that the study merely reported an association; it did not prove that obesity or diabetes contributed to autism. "There's a temptation to say, 'Gee, we've got increased incidence of obesity and increased incidence of autism — there must be a strong connection between the two,' " said Andrew Adesman, chief of developmental and behavioral pediatrics at Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York, who was not involved in the study. "We really need to be careful of reading into it." Irva Hertz-Picciotto, an environmental epidemiologist at UC Davis and senior author of the paper, agreed that it would be "premature" to say that obesity in mothers caused autism in children. Study finds link between autism and obesity during pregnancy - latimes.com It would be very interesting to see if there were a link between the Utah mothers and their children between metabolic disorders and autism. One type of autism they believe is metabolic in nature...also, some children's autism improves when they are on special diets, others when they have high fevers, and still others when they are on antibiotics, etc.

Obesity is "modestly" linked to Autism...I've known a lot of mother's of ASD children and sat in a lot of waiting rooms for speech and health clinics that specialize in ASD and one thing that I have not seen is a preponderance of heavy women. So this one is odd... By KATIE MOISSE (@katiemoisse) Autism Linked to Maternal Obesity - Yahoo! April 9, 2012 The study of more than 1,000 children in California found the risk of autism and other developmental delays was 60 percent higher among those born to mothers who were obese, hypertensive or diabetic..."Our findings raise concerns that these maternal conditions may be associated with neurodevelopmental problems in children and therefore could have serious public health implications." "It's hard to say if they're linked," said study author Irva Hertz-Picciotto, professor of public health sciences at the University of California at Davis. "It might be there's some environmental factor that contributes both to the obesity epidemic and to the rise in autism cases. Or it could be the increase in obesity is, in fact, contributing to the increase in autism. But it's certainly not going to account for all of it." Hertz-Picciotto and colleagues have also linked autism to poor maternal nutrition, antidepressant use and closely spaced pregnancies..."This study doesn't tell you anything about the origin of autism. What it does tell you are things associated with autism," said Dr. Susan Hyman, associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center. ...While maternal obesity is linked to a modest increase in autism risk, Hyman said it can have other health consequences in mother and child. Previous studies have linked maternal obesity to birth defects, including spina bifida as well as heart and limb deformities. ..."I think we're just beginning to unravel some of the mysteries of autism spectrum disorders. And I don't think we're going to find just one answer because it's not just one disease," Brown said...

Study reveals altered digestive genes in children with autism and gastrointestinal disturbances Published on September 17, 2011 at 2:22 AM "These changes may also affect the mix of bacteria present in the digestive tract...Researchers at the Center for Infection and Immunity (CII) at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health and at the Harvard Medical School report that children with autism and gastrointestinal disturbances have altered expression of genes involved in digestion. These variations may contribute to changes in the types of bacteria in their intestines. (Full study findings are reported online in the journal PLoS ONE.) If that didn't come from a bumper sticker...then it should be one! I think there are more people that just hope to go in the first round of whatever major calamity strikes than want to go through the trials necessary to make it through to live in Zion or the New Jerusalem. (Not that people hope that...I think the hope uppermost in most people's minds are that they will be able to live as they always have until they die...they don't want to consider the possibility of having to live without fast food, fast transportation, screens for entertainment, etc.) The older I get the less likely it will be that I am one of the people who will "make it through." But living in a truly Zion community would be awesome...just children being able to play safely outside with no worries of someone hurting them would be huge. Having the desert blossom as a rose...that's another one I would like to see as I live in the desert. No poor among them, that would be a real blessing. Jesus Christ personally leading His Church...how wondrous a blessing that will be. .

I don't like all the children and others that are neglected, abused, starved, or molested. I feel a bit guilty sometimes that they suffer while I can have more days of hot showers, hot food, a warm bed and a loving family. Not saying I don't want these things, just that when I realize how millions of children suffer each day...
