  1. This just seems out of place to me and I have never felt as if I understood it.
  2. All the devices I speak of have a USB port. And I have a CD Drive on my computer which is capable of burning CDs. I had just thought to use a thumb drive because they fit in my purse more easily. I most certainly do not want to get into a situation where I have lawlessly obtained MP3's or any other material in my possession. I study writing and as a result of piracy, I will likely never make a living doing it.
  3. I am sorry also. Heavenly Father has healed me of so much of the hatred I have felt for the perpetrators in my past, but I am just not showing it very well right now. Issues surrounding gay rights are upsetting to me because my instincts tell me that this is not simple sinful concupiscence but something deeper. I have seen a few people I know from college become extremely disillusioned and abandon organised religion as a result. In my limited experience the LDS church is actually more humane than others in my understanding of the issue. I don't advocate the conduct, but being of a scientific orientation am impatient that we should discover the etiology and cure of the problem. Remember, Leprosy was once thought to be caused by sin until the late 1930's. Perhaps some still think it is so.
  4. I am sorry. I am too incendiary on some issues. Good night Mr Knight.
  5. I am sorry I insulted you. The fact remains that I was roughly and abusively handled by the followers of Jesus Christ for doing nothing more than wanting to know more!!! I have a right to question, and you will NOT push me into a corner and scold me like a child ! You will not! The Christian faith is more fragmented than a train wreck, and it seems obvious to me that if the spirit was in any of the myriad numbers of churches that exist, it would not be so. I am LDS largely due to their performance of the wishes of Jesus Christ. Look closely at the instructions and wishes of Jesus Christ, Mr Knight. As far as I am concerned, The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints has earned more trust from me than anyone in a very long time. It is to them I am loyal because they worship the Heavenly Father that I know. I have shed the burning tears of injustice at the hands of the faithful, and it is by the restraining hands of the Holy Spirit that a few are still standing. Some christian churches in my estimation, do murder the different by their judgmental, unkind and inquisitional wrath. Do not take me on!
  6. I am not sure if it is permissible to ask such a question here but I need help. I think I know what an MP3 file is and I think that I can play them on my sterio, computer, and my car radio. My Samsung Gal 2s seems pretty useless for music because the router that goes to my hearing aids just seems to gobble battery life. So, I think I want to purchase some MP3 files from Amazon and put them on a thumb drive to carry in my purse. So, my question is: does my Phillips Stereo, and my Alpine Car Radio, and my PC based computer take the same compatible files? I am not very happy with the Apple store because they seem like they want to bully me.
  7. An issue for me is that I know too little from too many different perspectives, and it causes my thinking to be fragmented. The views on Jesus Christ from Evangelical to Muslim to Mormon is multi faceted and confusing for me at times. And, I am not dogmatic about any of it because I think that Heavenly Father will teach me in his time as I study LDS documents. Another burden is the presence of non canonized early church documents, and the fact that I neither trust nor like the people who established what should be in the Bible. Some of these people slaughtered the Essenes and the Gnostics. Others savagely murdered Hypatia of Alexandra, others advanced the idea of celibate priests, of church property, the inquisition, transubstantiation, and so many other heretical ideas. There is a book that says that Jesus Christ was taken up while Judas was crucified in his stead. I so desperately need someone in my life to remove the confusion and set me on the right path, if it exists. For me, the existence of the Church is all about present conduct, not documents that are sometimes questionable.
  8. I knew I would not win this argument. Still it has been an interesting discussion.
  9. Confusing, is it not? Having been Muslim, at first I thought it was yet another tiresome Sunni/Shia feud, but these Alawaits are hated by both sides, and allied to the communists. Now, I wonder if a world war over Syria is more likely than one over Israel? The pathetically sad thing is that there are Christians in Northern Syria that still speak Jesus Christ's language, Aramaic. I would love to hear their take on the true church.
  10. In engineering terms the stress factors on the structure of a woman are excessive and joint tolerances in various places make long term performance questionable.
  11. Yes, on the one hand we have a person whom the other side would sell their very souls to the devil to rid themselves of, and the other we have a person who is said to be a corporate raider and part of the 1%. I do not know what to do.
  12. I'm pretty disgusted with our present political situation, and at least the UK has had the chutzpah to send Syria's diplomats packing. Having recently been Muslim, my knowlege of Middle Eastern affairs shows me that it is fundamentally dense to send a single American boot to anywhere over there. These people have been fighting each other since before 635 AD, and they like it. I prefer the Queen.
  13. To the citizens of the United States of America From: Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In light of your failure in recent years to nominate competent candidates for President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately. (You should look up 'revocation' in the Oxford English Dictionary.) Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except Kansas, which she does not fancy). Your new Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, will appoint a Governor for America without the need for further elections. Both houses of Congress will be disbanded. A questionnaire may be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed. To aid in the transition to a British Crown dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect: 1. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'colour,' 'favour,' 'labour,' and 'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix '-ize' will be replaced by the suffix '-ise.' Generally, you will be expected to raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. (Look up 'vocabulary'). 2. Using the same twenty-seven words interspersed with filler noises such as 'like' and 'you know' is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. There is no such thing as U.S. English. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take into account the reinstated letter 'u' and the elimination of '-ize.' 3. July 4th will no longer be celebrated as a holiday. 4.You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers, or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not quite ready to be independent. Guns should only be used for shooting grouse. If you can't sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist, then you're not ready to shoot grouse... 5. Therefore, you will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous than a vegetable peeler; although a permit will be required if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public. 6. All intersections will be replaced with roundabouts, and you will start driving on the left side with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Both roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour. 7. The former USA will adopt UK prices on petrol (which you have been calling gasoline) of roughly $10/US gallon. Get used to it. 8. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips, and those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called crisps. Real chips are thick cut, fried in animal fat, and dressed not with catsup but with vinegar. 9. The cold, tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all. Henceforth, only proper British Bitter will be referred to as beer, and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as Lager. South African beer is also acceptable, as they are pound for pound the greatest sporting nation on earth and it can only be due to the beer. They are also part of the British Commonwealth - see what it did for them. American brands will be referred to as Near-Frozen Gnat's Urine, so that all can be sold without risk of further confusion. 10. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as good guys. Hollywood will also be required to cast English actors to play English characters. Watching Andie MacDowell attempt English dialogue in 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' was an experience akin to having one's ears removed with a cheese grater. 11. You will cease playing American football. There is only one kind of proper football; you call it soccer. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which has some similarities to American football, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like a bunch of nancy boys). 12. Further, you will stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the World Series for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.1% of you are aware there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. You will learn cricket, and we will let you face the South Africans first to take the sting out of their deliveries. 13. You must tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us mad. 14. An internal revenue agent (i.e. tax collector) from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all monies due (backdated to 1776). 15. Daily Tea Time begins promptly at 4 p.m. with proper cups, with saucers, and never mugs, with high quality biscuits (cookies) and cakes; plus strawberries (with cream) when in season. God Save the Queen!
  14. Yes and she lost her head over it. The Russians did use women in their defense forces, and the Germans can attest to the idea that Hell hath no fury like a woman ...
  15. Thank you. With Heavenly Father providing the power, I want my life to be proof that those who suffer a great deal of pain do not have to go out and be robbers, murderers, rapists and act out in any way that is injurious to society. It has been so already and I plan to continue the practice. It has been only in the last 10 or so years that genetic knowlege has identified many of the problems that plague people like me. I was talking to a genetic scientist, who is Muslim at one of the local Universities, and he said that in the next 10 or so years, many truths shall be revealed. The LDS church is my only hope because having been an Evangelical Fundamentalist, those who were members repeatedly demonstrated a lack of ability to assimilate new information; instead clinging to old worn out saws. Were it not illegal, some would still be burning the Wycliffe's of our day. I owe so much to The Church because it was they who actually paid for the tests that identified the roots of my problem factually, though the previously identified genetic scientist correctly called it simply by sight. I do apologise if past grief sometimes overtakes me and causes me to emote in a manner that makes me seem ungrateful and ingracious. Today, I feel unwell and should have stayed in bed, where I am going now.
  16. I wish I felt as if our present presidential candidates were making more effort to promote compromise in tense cultural situations. I feel uneasy when one of them is making more noise about a Strong Military than about diplomacy. I would feel more confidence in our leadership if one of the past presidents had not lied to the congress 26 times to get us into Iraq. As it is, I am thinking of starting a campaign to downgrade the status of the USA to British Colonies once again, and to petition the Queen to come over here and administer corporal punishment to our present adolescent leadership. It is disgusting.
  17. Bullets have passed my head and had things have blown up on me. I will not reveal the setting. I will freely say that combat would not suit me, though I can pick the center out of a target, my composure leaves me abandoned in bad situations.
  18. Sicily510: I've been slogging through what you posted until my brain is smoking. Please in 25 words or less can you paraphrase it? NO, I'll give you 50. I'm mostly scientific except where science is not advanced enough to deal with a situation. And something that will probably surprise those of you without medical/genetic background, there are lots of genetic indicators that point towards causation, but it is not "court of law" stuff yet. In my opinion, in less than 10 years we will know why gays and lesbians are the way they are. Contrary to popular opinion, not that many of them are sexually active. First, it is hard to find a partner without "diseases", and many of them are emotionally damaged thanks to churches, and family, so they don't do that good with stable relationships. And if they are abstinent, then according to church law, they should not have a problem at all, even with priesthood and the Temple. In the case of Inter-sexed like me, it boils down to the atonement. Do the church fathers really believe in the atonement or not? It is that simple. The whole issue is what is in the imaginations of those making the rulings? WELL, I believe in the atonement, and it does not matter if they do or not. Heavenly Father knows and he has placed himself between me and them. I really try to be sweet and obedient; following all the rules as I understand them. I try to be civil and respectful to the men who run the church. Do I trust any of them? NOT ON YOUR LIFE! They'd have a better chance of taming a feral cat. I have vowed to hang around with the church, and do what I can to obey the rules as long as it feels right. I would not be surprised if they suddenly threw me out, and it would hurt a lot. Chances are that would be my last experience with any church at all, but not Heavenly Father, and I'd leave them to deal with the mill stone around who ever's neck it finds. This discussion has left me feeling bereft, frightened and angry.
  19. Considering my history with men, I must admit to a lack of objectivity. I defend your right to your opinion on the rest.
  20. There is that and when the moon visits some of us, it is quite compromising.
  21. In spite of the fact that humans are getting larger, I do not think that a woman who is 5'4" could pick up a soldier that is 6'2" and carry him to safety. Plus, I have seen soldiers, even women, with all sorts of injuries suffered in combat, even if they are not shot. Jumping from planes and Helicopters in high stress situations makes hamburger of knees, hips and backs. With these sorts of injuries, do we really expect a young LDS girl to come home from two tours in Iraq, and then bear six children; all the while being sweet, motherly, and nurturing after she has seen human beings eviscerated by Road Side Bombs? Especially, in this day and age, I would think that we would be expending much more energy in finding peaceful solutions. I know that many women of today are fed ideas that tell them that they can do anything a man can do, and maybe many of us can. But should we and how will it affect our nurturing skills?
  22. Generally speaking, I am very opposed to women even in uniform, because I know that rear echelon situations have a way of degrading rapidly in this day and age. Secondly, men are dangerous even in a civilian situation. Take them and put them in a high adrenalin, high stress situation and you have someone that is extremely dangerous. I like men a lot, but I also know what they do to destress after a dangerous situation. Even in relief work in places where a hurricane, or earth quake, things can get tense. And in these situations, in a mixed population things can get really strange after weeks of digging out the dead, and seeing families in grief.
  23. I saw the above statement one time at a very conservative Christian web site, and have seen things that make me think that the statement could be valid. In fact having volunteered at the VA and been round veterans, both male and female, well ... I wonder what the LDS take on women in the military is?
  24. Of all people, I should understand his frustration. Still, I am blessed with little or no desire at my own choosing. Jesus Christ said, "If thine eye offend thee, pluck it out". I believe that literally and don't bother to argue with me, because you won't change my mind. At the mercy of the church, I found out things about myself that explain many things to me, and I feel fortunate that my problem was solved so easily. Still, there are highly placed members who would give me only half a membership, as if I should be grateful for that. Petulantly, I want to ask them, "Does that then mean I am only to pay half a tithe?" It would hurt less if I was tied to a pylon and beaten for the sins that THEY imagine, and I have not done. I could walk away from the church; become "inactive". But the kindness of Heavenly Father and the other members constrain me, and I am a captive of love. I want to lash out at times but my pained words die in my throat, unspoken. It is my fervent prayer that one day we will know the cause of non-reproductive sexual unions, and know that it is genetic, not the product of some dark inner desire. And if we have that knowledge, then my next prayer would be to cure it, or murder in the womb those who would be cursed with it. Much of my life I wished that I had remained unborn, and it was only by exposure to those fervently stubborn followers of our church that those feelings finally stopped tormenting me. I can understand his foolish vain hope to gain understanding, but there are some who never will and I leave them to face the consequences.
  25. Matthew 6 KJV - Take heed that ye do not your alms - Bible Gateway We actually pray five times a day; when we get up, at meals and when we go to bed. Psalms 23 Is good also.
