  1. This has always been an interesting topic, and it seems to be pretty debated within the Church. I look at "hot drinks" from a historical perspective. By that I mean, which "hot drinks" were common during Joseph's time. That really narrows it down to black tea and coffee, with those two being the primary "hot drinks" of the time. That is just my opinion, I think it's up to each individual to pray about it and apply the revelation to themselves. Great question! -Josh
  2. I'm a fan of trigun, full metal alchemist, and a couple others. I lived in northern Japan for three years, so I got quite a bit of anime there. I miss my old toonsami days after school watching DBZ and Gundam Wing....
  3. My wife and I watch Doctor Who regularly, and it is tame. Torchwwod (a doctor who spin off) can be much more explicit so I would exercise caution. Otherwise, enjoy your timey wimey show!
  4. I'm a history major, so the historical accuracy of the Book of Mormon is always an interesting discussion. I look forward to reading the whole paper when it is available. It won't change anything for me, but it will be fun to read for the "gee whiz" factor.
  5. Welcome! I used to live in GA, a small town called Hiram outside of Marietta. Again, welcome to the forum! -Josh
  6. Welcome back! I was inactive for about 5 years, and just returned to activity. My wife and I are being sealed in the temple tomorrow! I am very happy for you that you came back to the Church. Having been raised Lutheran, I can say that there are many, many great Lutherans out there. But the Lutheran Church doesn't have the Restored Gospel or Priesthood authority. So again, welcome back! Meet with your bishop and he'll guide you. Don't worry! -Josh
  7. Welcome to the forum, and the Church Brian!
  8. Jen, It's a pleasure to meet you! My wife was Catholic and I was Lutheran, both of us were baptised into the Church on the same wonderful night. I would encourage you, as everyone else has, to meet the local missionaries. No need to prepare, except maybe read a bit of the Book of Mormon, pray, and be happy! Conversion is a wonderful process and it is most appreciated if you take your time and really get a chance to feel the Spirit and learn about the Gospel. I look forward to your questions and thoughts! Best of luck to you on this journey! Josh
  9. Thanks for your testimony! It was very inspiring. -Josh
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome all! This forum has been very interesting thus far and I look forward to learning more with all of ya'll. Josh
  11. Ally01, Welcome to the forum! Brazil must have been a neat place to serve a mission. My family hosted a Brazilian exchange student during the '90's and he told us all about his life there. It sounds like quite a country. Thanks for what you do in law enforcement, that is such a demanding field. Again, welcome! Josh
  12. Ok, I got the joke now. It only took a couple of days, lol.
  13. Sorry Pam, that happens from time to time.
  14. I have a lab beagle mix and a mini schnauzer, and they get along great.
  15. Hello! I joined this board earlier this month and have been lurking a bit. My name is Josh, and I am a convert to the LDS Church. I posted that story in the statement of beliefs area, so I'll keep this light. I am married, no kids, two dogs. I am in the US Air Force, currently stationed in the United Kingdom. I love reading, hiking, sight seeing, and camping. I am also a History major and would like to teach one day. I am deeply grateful for the Gospel and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have been able to serve my fellow brothers and sisters, and that has greatly impacted my understanding of the Gospel. I am always learning, and have a long ways to go. My wife and I are making our first trip to the temple in about a week and a half and we are super excited to be taking this next step. I look forward to meeting all of you out ther in lds.net land! Josh K.
