A Question Of My Own For Joshuak And Anyone Else Interested
JoshuaFKon replied to a topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Well....what do you mean by "good works had better follow if the salvation is to stick" You would need to clarify that... But I would say that you are a Christian. Josh B) P.S. What do Mormons think about Christians....do they go to heaven? -

Come on A.K.! Don't leave me in suspense! what's the follow-up?! Josh -
No need to apologize Dr. T....it probably will be fun to read... Josh But as a Christian....I don't believe Venus exists........lies...all lies....

Hello, I know I said I wasn't going to post again till saturday, but I couldn't help it...I mean A.K. put up a whole post just for me! My posting would be my first "lie" on here if you're counting rosie... Josh B) By the way Dr. T, I love the quote you have "“To base thought only on speech is to try nailing whispers to the wall. Writing freezes thought and offers it up for inspection.” Jack Rosenthal" how to I get a quote under my name?

A Question Of My Own For Joshuak And Anyone Else Interested
JoshuaFKon replied to a topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Well ApostleKnight, I would say (just my opinion) you would need to believe Jesus is the Messiah, Confess that he is your Lord, believe that God raised him from the dead, and know that you are saved only because of His sacrifice, and not because of your good works...oh and you must forgive others. As for people who have never heard the gospel, I'm not sure, still researching.... Josh P.S. I'm flattered that you put my name in the post... -
A.K. How many religons encorage prayer and loving others? The fact the you love others does not prove you are correct. And even if Mormons are "saved" (personally I don't know, do Mormons think Christians are "saved"?) That doesn't prove you're right either. If I keep everything about mormonism but added...the phone book as part of my scripture, does that mean that because I'm "saved" and love others...that I'm right? Also, I never said, nor do I believe that satan inspirired any of the Mormon texts. Of course I'm not sure that God inspirired them either... Also, this seems to be a debate about if logic should be used or not....that's not my point on this thread, ( I'm disscussing that on "does faith need evidence") I am using logic. If you don't want to base your beliefs on that...fine with me, but unless God tells me otherwise, I do want to base my belief on logic. So If anyone would like to answer my questions about the Book of Abraham, please do. If you couldn't care less what I say because I'm relying only on logic, fine. But why post and tell me I shouldn't depend on logic? Feel free to "know" I'm wrong, I won't argue with you, but if you would like to disscuss FACTS not "feelings" on the Book of Abraham, I would appreciate your post. and no hard feelings? Thanks, Josh

Thanks Ray, very..... helpful....... I actually wasn't paying attention the first 500 times someone told me to pray! maybe if I just pray a little harder... lol Josh

Hello, :) As I christian, I would be happy to answer any questions you have about christian beliefs. Josh B)

Rosie, It is sad that you cannot address my questions....and so you resort to a favorite ploy of those who cannot answer. Character Assassination. If you can't answer the questions, well, only one thing to do! make it so the Questions aren't worth answering. Let me tell you something, I am not a liar. I don't think I could convince you of that no matter what I say, but even if you think I am a liar, a horrible person who dosn't deserve to live. Does that make my questions less valid? Why don't you spend a little bit of time researching and instend of "destroying" me personally, "destroy" my questions, my logic? As for your lenthly and difficult to read posts that "prove" I am a liar (I can't trust your indepentent person who agrees with you becasue he's not a mormon a so is not trustworthy) Your basic problem seems to be that I have read too much, know my sources too well, my answers are to quick, does that make me a liar? As you kindly pointed out in your post before, on Aug 15 I said I had only been researching Mormonism for a week. However, as you also pointed out I said: "After disscussing Mormonism for a couple of weeks" Your confusion I believe comes from this, so let me clear it up for you, I disscussed Mormonism with one person for a couple of weeks. She couldn't answer all my questions. Because I was not going to base my opinion of Mormonism on one person's beliefs I then started researching it in depth, going to pro-mormon sites to see if they could answer. I asked other mormons on Yahoo answers. The told me to list my sources. I put up a site based mostly on my emails with the mormon I was talking to, and after about a week of researching. I posted on here. Since you do not "know" (unless of course God just told you) that I'm lying. I would prefer in the future, if you said, it's is "unlikely" that I'm telling the truth, or his story is not very easy to swallow. But since you cannot prove that I have lied. and therefore am on "the side of satan" I would suggest you consider the possiblity that I'm telling the truth and therefore you are "bearing false witness" against me. Thanks, Josh

Hello everyone, You have bested me, not by your logic, reasoning, or wisdom, But by your constant advice to pray, and the rather circular logic of some of the people on here. I have been called a liar, "on the side of satan", and deciever, and many other things. I thank the few who answered my questions, and the fewer who gave me the benift of the doubt. Of course, I would never give up this quickly, but I am going to finish my vacation in peace. I will be back on Saturday to continue this disscussion. I'll probably check back once or twice and maybe one post a day...but I'm not answering every person who calls me a liar untill I get back from vacation (I may need to take another vacation after this...lol) and my blog will still be up. If anyone actually wants to answer me, my site is still up (www.allaboutjoshua.com) and you can reach me there. Thanks again, And I hope there are no hard feelings? till Saturday.... Josh B)

Why will no one give me a straight answer? (1) The proof that electrons exist are that you can see what they do, also, electrons are just a theory, (although I know of no one who dissagrees) If tomorrow some new evidence pointed towards no electrons...it would be accepted. (2) You say you have never heard someone say "prove to me that electrons exist before I will allow anything electrical to be installed in my home" If a large segment of the scientific community said that these "electrical" things were harmful, would you reseach it before you allowed it in your home? All in all your "electron" analogy is severly flawed. Josh B)

Ok, I'll do that, But what is the strongest case for your position? As for my praying, I know how to pray, I have been a christian for many years, and as I've said I've prayed about this before, but if it makes you happy, I will try again. But if I don't get an answer in.... then no one asks me to pray about the Book of Mormon to see if its true, for...a week. deal? If you don't mind me asking...if I go away and "ponder" it for a certain ammount of time, and don't reach the conclusion you have reached. Will anyone answer my questions based on logic without telling me: (1) I shouldn't question you (2) My motives are wrong (3) Don't tell us things that anti-mormons say, because its not valid (4) If I really was honest about wanting to know, God would have told me (5) I'm not trying hard enough, or correctly and that's why God hasn't told me (6) It's all about faith, I "know" its true, so I won't take the time to answer your pointless, mormon-hating questions. What do I have to do/say/read/understand/ponder/ to get past that? I will do it. (within reason) I can't make God tell me it's true, I will try again, but lets just say that for some reason I don't hear from God. Will you try to answer my questions? without using your "knowing" Thanks, Josh

First, Thank you for answering one of my questions. First of all, Most of my questions are about the Book of Abraham. But ok, lets look at the archeological evidence in the Americas. First of all, I am not trying to prove the Book of Mormon false, if I was I would look at other points, It is impossible to disprove anything based on a lack of archeological evidence alone, because we don't have it all. I would also like to point out the you made a good point with "bountiful" If it was not for that fact, I would probably not be interested enough in Mormonism to discuss it. I think the problem with the evidence for the Book of Mormon is the lack of evidence, you would think there would be more proof, like other "reformed egyptian writing" perhaps undeniable evidence of a Hebrew Civilization there. The Fact is, if it wasn't for the Book of Mormon, no one would even consider it. There are no horses in that area from that time No sheep, No Cows No donkeys No evidence of large scale metal working. There is no wheat... No real evidence at all...(correct me if I'm wrong) It cannot be disproven archeoloically but I don't see the evidence you would think would be there. The lack of evidence is usually explained away by saying "Limited Geography Theory" But I think there are problems with that too. Let my sum up this post by saying a couple things: (1) Thank you for answering my questions (2) Why is the evidence not abundatly clear? if millions of people were involved in huge battles, where are the swords? the shields? Why don't the people in that area have any memory of Jesus comming? (3) There is some evidence that makes in plausible, but not likely. Thanks again, And let me point about that I could be wrong, I didn't study the Archeoloical evidence as much as I did everything else. Thanks Josh

Only 15%? I was sure you'd at least give me 20% Actually, I would suggest that before anyone makes a commitment to Christianity, they should look at all the anti-Chrsitian sites, (as well as the pro-Christian sites) like I did, I found it very faith afirming. I would find this question slightly offensive I'll admit, but only becasue the implacation would be that I might think you don't have to see both sides. However since...what was it? 33%? say you shouldn't see the other side (probably more really because you and I voted for "both") I don't understand why everyone's upset. I hope they change, my effectiveness sure needs some work...2000+ views....6-7 attempts to answer my questions...I've probably been called a liar about 30 though if that counts for anything..... thanks, Josh

Rosie, I'm sorry you feel that way about me, I won't answer all your other questions because I have done so before. But I strongly object to one point you made. I have never done this, Also If I was going to accuse someone of being a liar, I would be more specific. Where have I lied? what did I say that was false? who have I mis-quoted? what statistic have I made up? You exspect me to believe everything you say with "faith" regardless of anything else, but you won't believe anything I say becasue I disagree with you. My library of books, would you like to see the shipping label that says when there were delivered? check the history of my site, It has been on for no longer than I have said. Would you like to see a pic of me to prove I am 18?! a blood sample to prove I am human? Just becuase I don't agree with you I am a liar? can you not accept anything I say becasue I am not a Mormon? Josh

What are the "steps of repentance?" why not just say "God, please forgive me for my sin, I repent (turn from your sin) and then stop sinning? what else is there to do? What else could you do? Josh
-
Ok, ok, I'll give you that was funny :) Josh B)

I have read much of the Book of Mormon, and I mostly agree with it (doctrinally) What I do not agree with is The Book of Abraham, (which, by the way, also seems to conflict with the Book of Mormon as I said before) I have not read the entire Bible (ever tried to read Leviticus?) But I have read most of it, I believe that I have studied Mormonism enough before I came on here (as you pointed out) That my opinion is worth considering. But thanks for your thought, I will continue reading The Book of Mormon untill I finish. Thanks again, Josh

The weather on vacation is bad....so I would be on here 24/7, except my internet connection is "low" lol :) But yeah, wait till I get home to my beautiful new desktop computer with high-speed internet connection. (I miss it so.... ) then I'll really have the time to post on here alot...lol Josh

Back to the salt thing, Lets say there was a debate between two groups, One side said salt was sweet, on the other hand, the "anti-salts" claimed it was not sweet. Lets say the one side said they "knew" that salt was "sweet" because they tasted it. (lets also pretend that you need to be correct about salt to save your imortal soul) The other side says they didn't really taste it, and they give diagrams of the tounge showing how salt differs from sweet things. Now pretend you're an outsider, you'ver never even heard of salt, You happen to live on an un-charted island. (that happens to have internet access) you stumble upon the debate one day. The salts say the only way to know salt is sweet is to taste it, but you can't find any salt to taste on the island even though you looked really hard like they told you to. What do you do? Now I'm not saying I know that salt is "salty" becasue I've never tasted it, but can you understand how you would have to depend on the diagrams? of course you would never stop looking for salt, but you could ask the salts to explain the diagrams couldn't you? Josh Thanks for following me with the whole "salt" thing, sorry if its confusing

I mean, is my opinion not worthy of equal consideration. Josh

I am a computer addict , (Just wait till I get back from vacation) Plus, The weather is terrible. Josh

Look, the salt thing is a good example. I'm not saying that you're all absoultly wrong, What do I know? God could have told you. But, in this thread I'm just trying to see what you think about it. I promised I would not critize your opinions on this thread. But surely since I have prayed, Can you fault me for using only logic untill I get an answer from God? Thanks Josh
