  1. That is actually very true that women will use duct tape to create cleavage in a backless dress. The best fun that I have ever witnessed was people using the varied colors of duct tape to create medieval outfits. Also if you are making clothing for yourself and you want to get accurate measurements, you create a duct tape dummy of your body. We love duct tape around my house and my favorite color to use is the purple!
  2. Dear Sanger- I admire those that wish to come to America to further their education, but in these cases the laws of the land come into play. You have to go through the application process to get a green card for education and you have to be accepted to a school. OR you have to find someone like an employer to sponsor you for entry into this country. Where are you from? What I would do, is speak to your Bishop, stake president, branch president and have them assist you. The website for BYU might also have information pertaining to foreign students as well. Good luck in your quest for knowledge
  3. I feel that if you are even talking to God that is a good sign and I don't think he really cares too much as to how he gets the prayers. Basically I pray whenever I get the chance outside of my regular prayers (my night prayers, meal time etc.) When I am in my vehicle, I like to think Heavenly Father is in my passenger seat and I like to "talk" to him. I feel as though that gives me time to think about a problem that has been bothering me and I can talk it out and then usually a solution does present itself. I am more informal about my prayers than my husband. For him, praying is actually kneeling on the bedside. I grew up Catholic and I am grateful that we don't do as I fondly call it, "the Catholic Cheer!" "Stand up, sit down, Stand up sit down, kneel, kneel, kneel."
  4. Your prayers and good thoughts are working! My dear beloved husband got through the first round of the major interview today! They are so impressed with him, that they have put him at the top of the list to be given a technical interview! He commented that when he was on the verge of panicking, he stopped and regrouped for a moment and then the answer came to him. I know that was the Spirit assisting him to calm his nerves. The spirit confirmed to us awhile back that are time in our current place is short and that we will be moving to a new place that we will be calling home. Home... that has such a nice ring to it. So, please continue to keep me and my little family close to your hearts and I will continue to let you know the progress of this avenue of pursuit. This Sunday, me and my family are going to do a 3-hour fast (can't fast beyond that for medical reasons) and we will as a family have family prayer, individual prayer, as well as cherishing the blessing of being a family. Thank you once again.
  5. 1 interview down and 1 to go tomorrow! So far, everything is going well. Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts on behalf of my family. I will let everyone know as to what is happening. I think my mustard seed is now at least the size of a sunflower seed with everyone's support and encouragement.
  6. Good greetings one and all this evening. I would like to ask that you say a little prayer for my family and most especially my dear husband. He is getting ready to interview with 2 large companies Thursday and Friday. The position is what he has wanted to do since graduation from university 6 years ago. I truly believe that this is his time to shine! And my fondest wish is for him to fulfill his dream. We have contacted our favorite Temples and submitted our family. I am asking for your good thoughts and prayers. Thanks so much!
  7. Smells good... tastes yucky! I prefer Decaf Chai Tea with Sugar-Free vanilla syrup. To me, it reminds me of warm pumpkin pie with whipped cream if it is done right

I was getting my son ready for school and the phone rang. My husband called me and told me to stay home because WTC got hit. At that time, we lived really close to Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs. Then I turned on the TV and saw both buildings collapse. I think seeing them collapse hit me more than watching the plane smash into the buildings. But for me the attack on the Pentagon hit really close to home. My cousin was a stenographer at the Pentagon and he said that morning he had major car trouble and so after trying to figure out what was wrong with the car, he called in but found out that the Pentagon had been hit. He quickly turned on the TV and started to freak out. He was supposed to be in the office that morning taking notes where the nose cone of the plane hit. He has never had any trouble out of the car since then. Very much divine intervention. So, he and his wife retired and are the caretakers of the their church's cemetary and memory garden.
  9. So these wines that are made from scratch - they have no alcohol in them? The cordials you make have no alcohol in them? They are not alcoholic in any way shape or form? ***Not sarcastic here, just curious*** I was merely answering a query about the wines that were consumed by friends. Nothing more... nothing less. And yes, when I do make the cordials I use Vodka. And no I do not consume any form of alcohol not because of the Word of Wisdom, but because there is practically a straight pipe to my liver and I have a greater chance of dying from alcohol poisoning than most people. To me, living is a greater principle than the Word of Wisdom in this case.
  10. What a wonderful treasure to have! A journal from a family member that made the trek! Thank you for the information. I a slowly getting more information together because I will probably have to practice a few of the recipes before the event. Thank you Thanks for the website! It is a start and I have found some resources like sourdough starters and stuff. I will keep looking
  11. Okay, you're confusing me Sabran. Wasn't the whole point of your "Cheesed Off" thread, to make it known what bothered you about other members actions or even non-actions. Were you not in the least judging them, because their imperfections bothered you a little. Don't get me wrong, I understand about judging other people, especially other parents; I always compare how other parents teach their children. I'm just confused about you're are not wanting to be judged yourself. Everybody does it. The only exception IMO, is when others seem to be a bit self-righteous in their judgements of others and are totally blind to their own imperfections. M. No, they were not judgements, they were observations. To me, a judgement is calling someone on the carpet about their actions, words, or deeds, and never said anyone is specific. I merely stated an observation that was never acted upon. Never said a word to those folks, just kept it to myself until now on this board. And to this day, I have never made a comment to those folks about their kids. What has come out of that discussion is that a few people have emailed me and have given me suggestions on the way to handle those kinds of situations when the arise! That was a personal attack on me make public and to my "e-face" for a lack of better terminology. I hope that has stopped the confusion for ya!
  12. Really - no other additives? Do these wine drinking acquaintances of yours make their own wine or do they remove the sugars, tanins, acids and minerals that are added into purchased wines? Most of the wines they drink are made from scratch, so there are no modern day processes at work for the wines. I am not aware that wines have tanins in them. If you have a source of that, I would like to see it. (Not being snotty, but interested from a researching point of view) The grapes that are used in these wines are already sweetened, but there is honey added to some of them. So again nothing processed or refined.
  13. Does anyone have any knowledge of websites or books that have references to what the pioneers ate on the trek to Utah? Things I am looking for is- The way they might have baked bread on the trail. Wild game and fowl recipes (We are planning to buy the deer, rabbit, etc. to cook!) Food preservation What I am looking for is recipes to reproduce for a possible Pioneer Day celebration.
  14. Baloney! What a bunch of hypersensitive, I'm-a-victim-of-somebody-else's-behavior-that-is-not-as-good-as-my-own tripe. The ward clerk made a remark that you didn't like. BIG DEAL. Looking at your self-righteous, superficial rant, I can easily imagine that you make lots of comments that other people don't like. Grow a spine. So some kids were acting like kids. Big deal. That's why they call em kids - cuz they act that way. So who died and left you as Chief of Policing Sacrament Talks? I like to talk about great historical figures and like to hear about them. Some one gets a wild hair that unless other members of the Church follow their particular prescription for learning and teaching the gospel, they those other members don't appreciate Christ like they appreciate Christ. MALARKY! Name one single member of the Church that worships Joseph Smith. Go ahead. I'll wait. Name one single member of the Church that 'loves, adores, and respects' Brigham Young and Gordon B. Hinckley the same as Heavenly Father. Go on. I'm waiting. You pretend to understand the private thoughts of others and ascribe motives to their behavior. That's a crock. Thank you for showing your humbleness, compassion, and love of Christ to another human being let alone a church member. If I wanted comments like these, I would consulted an anti-Mormon. I never said anything about "knowing the private thoughts of others", but actions speak volumes over words. Please continue to sit in the judgement chair over MY obervations and frustrations. I am so glad we have perfect church members like you to sit and condemn another person's thoughts. What if I were to give you names? Would you like their addresses as well, so you can go to them and say, " I read this on the Internet about you, it is true?" I sure love being belittled and berated by someone who has NEVER met me, doesn't know my situation, and really doesn't care about my spiritual well-being, but putting me in place is the right thing to do! At least to my credit, I never slammed anyone to their "face" in the church whether in person or online. So, again thank you for a spiritual beating. I hope you feel better because you got to tell me how wrong I am !
  15. Hi Sharyl! I am a little lost as what you are looking for about being an LDS woman? Are you looking for what our role as women in the Church is or what duties we can assume responsibility for. To further your quest for knowledge, would it be possible for you to be a little more specific? Thanks
