  1. Mormon Missionary Numbers Reach 75,000 Milestone It's nice to see so many people my age dedicating 18 and 24 months to serving Christ. I hope when I join the Church, I can be apart of this. :)
  2. They most likely will. I think the church I am going to is quite large. I looked on the Meetinghouse locator, and the Chapel itself is enormous... not to mention the parking lot. I am guessing AT LEAST 300-400 members. And that makes me that much more nervous when I get baptized.
  3. Well, least I know now not to wear my normal clothes. I do have a suit and all, so I might wear that. I'm actually gunna wear normal clothes on my first time, just to get noticed. I want to talk to as many people as possible. xD But after that, church clothes are what I will wear.
  4. I've thought of moving to Utah. It's such a beautiful state, and it feels and looks like (mountains, snow, etc) a mini-Canada.
  5. I'm an introvert. But when it comes to things I like and enjoy, such as the Church, I become talkative and love to chit chat, especially about the scriptures and other stuff. I don't know why, because in normal social situations I am more quiet.
  6. I think God wants me to join his Church on earth, which is the LDS Church. Also, I believe he wants me to spread the Gospel, as a missionary. It's just burning inside me to tell everyone about the Bible and the Book of Mormon. :) Thanks! I'm gunna check out that documentary. :)
  7. Haha :) I know, wherever Christ needs me, I'll be there. I live in Canada, so I get the best of both worlds (cold and humid weather).
  8. I'm doing my second reading tonight in bed. It's one of the best times to read, imo. It's relaxing and you won't be disturbed (unless you have an annoying brother or sister ). And I will probably pray again after reading it. Before I met the online missionary 3 weeks ago, I never prayed. Now, I try to pray as often as I can. I'm not the greatest at it, but I'm getting there. I wish you luck in your journey to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. :) I know I am looking forward to being apart of God's Church.
  9. Did you pray after each reading? I've only read it once so far, but praying after made it a lot more special for me.
  10. Last night I started reading the Book of Mormon seriously. Other times I've just flipped through different pages and read important or cool verses. I'm not far into the Book, only about 15 pages, but the story of the prophets Lehi and Nephi obtaining the plates of brass was pretty cool! I am looking forward to reading more. My goal is to read at least 15 or even 50-100 pages per night (if I get ahead of myself ), and pray after each reading to ask God if this Book is true. I do sincerely believe it is true, though. I think if I keep praying about it, I will strengthen my faith in the Book of Mormon. I really want to impress the missionaries. I can't imagine the look on their faces when they ask if I've read the Book of Mormon. I'll just say "I've read it all." xD I do plan on reading it all before September, which is when I am starting the lessons. :)

    Hello

Welcome to LDS.net. I soon will be proud to say that I am a Mormon, though, my conversion story is probably not as cool as yours.
  12. I hope to meet mine at the local meetinghouse. Btw, do they only do lessons at night? Because I want to do mine at either 11:00am or 1:00pm during the week.
  13. I'm an introvert to, though, I think that's going to change when I get accustomed to Mormon culture (it is quite different, and that is what is so appealing about it). I think you'll fit in. You fit in on LDS.net, and most of the people on here are Mormon. Plus, most people are understanding of different habits and such. Oh, and remember how polite and open minded Canadians are.
  14. Is it possible for someone to be a liberal or socialist and be a Mormon? Of what I've seen, most Mormons vote Republican in state and national elections in the United States. However, in Latin America, left-wing governments reign supreme. Would you say that Mormons in Latin America tend to be more left-wing and not what you would consider a "traditional" Mormon? I am a conservative, and would vote Republican if I was American. In Canada I would vote for the Conservative Party since they are closer to my own beliefs.
  15. It's totally up to you. Going on a mission is a big thing (I'm not a Mormon yet), and that's two years of your life. If you feel that your prayers are saying go on mission, do it. Just keep your family close. I want to do a mission after a year in the church. For me, it'll be more difficult, seeing as my parents are not LDS. I am going to keep my parents opinions seriously, but I think it would be good to go on a mission.
  16. I'd like to read the scriptures more often, maybe 20-30 minutes a day. I want to read a good chunk of the Book of Mormon before I meet the missionaries and familiarize myself with it. I do wish I had more time to read though, especially with work and stuff getting in the way.
  17. It is pretty exciting, and I've been dreaming of how it'll play out (with different outcomes ). I think for me, I will do the lessons with the missionaries for a month (all of September, and maybe some of October), and see when I can schedule my baptism. I am 100% sure I'm going to be nervous but, I don't think I'll stop smiling. I'll be smiling the whole time. xD I also don't like being the centre of attention, but I guess I can live with that for at least an hour. :) I don't have to worry about long hair, I'm a guy (I know my name is a bit confusing), and have short hair. xD I can't wait to post a thread in the next two months with the title "I'm a Mormon". :)
  18. Thanks, you've put a lot of my worries to rest. The online missionary I am talking to is going to phone and email the bishop for me (I can't phone because my parents are opposed, and have no way to find out his email), and I may get a response this week or early next week. So, the ball is rolling and I am on my way to becoming a Mormon. It's awesome. Can't wait to start planning for my baptism. :) Anyone feel like sharing their baptism day?
  19. You might be Mormon if, you somehow get "drunk" off of chocolate milk. I love chocolate milk and apparently the college kids at BYU do to.
  20. You guys should move to Canada. :) We have a conservative government in power (at least until 2015, unless they get another majority after that), and it is taking steps to keep Canada's economic health in check. Though, I think it's time the American people voted for a true conservative Republican to lead the nation, and cut spending. If I were American I would vote for Rick Perry or Mitch Daniels.
  21. I think I have specific day of the week planned (don't know the exact date, though), and I hope it works for everyone. Will I also be meeting the Bishop as well? I think I might, because I am going to request doing the lessons at the meetinghouse. I want to do it there because I want to familiarize myself with the congregation, and because it's easier for the missionaries. If you could, I would be very grateful if you did that for me. Any help in getting me closer to joining this church is great. I love this church. :) Unfortunately, most of my friends and family are either atheist, agnostic, or anti-Mormons. My parents don't particularly like Mormons (they call them "door knockers"). So I think that no family or friends will witness my baptism, which is a shame. The only problem for me, is I will be working Sundays soon (people are leaving my department, and I am taking over someones Sunday shift, which I'm not happy about). That shift will start at 7 or 8 and end at either 3, 4, or 5. I hope I can go to an evening service. :) That's very exciting, to be honest. I've never really planned a big occasion like this, so it'll be an experience in and of itself. :) I don't know too much about hymns, so I'll have to talk to the missionaries about that. I am really looking forward my baptism. :)
  22. Seeing as my journey to the LDS Church is finally reaching its climax in two months (starting lessons in September, and hope to get baptized in October), I was wondering if anyone would like to share their baptism day with us? I do actually have some questions. Is there a lot of planning involved, including the convert, the missionaries and the bishop, etc? Does it have to be on a Sunday, or a day of your choosing? And how long is it typically?
  23. Ugh, I really need to think through my posts more, lol. Yes, past leader biographies are great too. xD
