Well I dont understand what is so sad about it... First off he is simply saying that the promises they were given are coming true. If there is a prophecy than it will come true so are we wrong to acknowledge truth.

Very right. Satan will always be satan so why would he want us to believe what the lds believe? Very nice point. Someimes it gets to obvious for people. I was going to say easy, but its not easy its the toughest way of life, but the best.

I'm Not Sure That My Family Would Approve Of Me Converting
vinny15 replied to Holly3278's topic in Advice Board
All of my family on my moms side are lds. On my Fathers side only my aunt. He was raised Roman Catholic. He had a tough time and his mother still believes he is a loon. I have still had my share of the anti's. All through out school Ive ran into people who have confronted me on my faith. One friend in my freshman year converted to the true church and he is still running strong. Im ordaining him a priest next sunday. His family consists of an abusive druggy dad and a mother who curses like a sailor. Think of what god will bless you with when you follow him. -
In the bible christ preached the gospel, but he did not teach the Canaanites. The gospel is given line upon line precept upon precept. The gospel is added upon for the change in time. God hasnt changed he has always been the same, but do you expect him to give an acount of all his laws. We believe in obeying the law of the land and we had polygamy, but since it became illegal we ommited one that wasnt a cmmandment, but a key.

LOL the way the world works Im sure it will come into fashion.

The thing is dont even have any of the other kindoms in your mind. In the celestial kingdom there is eternal progresion, meaning we can become like god and yes we will still worship him in the sense that we love him for what he did for us. Anyone would rather be in the celestial kingdom. If you dont love god than you will be in a lower one wich is glorious, but than again you will wonder what could've been. God will give you a lot more than you can imagine if you have an eye single to his glory. YOu can be so much happier if you let god consult you in everything you do. God is the man! :) Blue, I'm wondering if everyone will want to repent? I don't know the answer to that question, but it might come to play somewhere. The next thing to do though is make sure cleaning up your life is what you want to do. Don't worry about where you end up, but just do it so that your life will be a better place to live now. There are very few people who know where they will end up right now, so then improving your condition has to be personal choice regardless of future glory or status in the LDS church. Aaron the Ogre I think your right, but the easienst way to clean up is to know what will come if you do.

I can assure you a bishop wouldnt say pornography is perfectly normal. Now if you didnt tell him the whoe truth for instance if you only said he looks at other woman when they walk by than that is normal, but if mentioned hes obssesed with it etc. than the bishop wouldve done something about it. So Im just wondering what did you actually say to the bishop?

Vicarious Ordinances (i.e. Baptism For The Dead)
vinny15 replied to vinny15's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Oh... well Christ preached the gospel to the dead in the spirit world. So we would need the spirit to discern the truth for us. 1peter 3. 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 aWhich sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water This is 1peter 4: 5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. 6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. but it is an essential doctrine. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. Mark16:16 My Favorite is this John 3: 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Notice he is speaking of baptism and he says if it doesnt happen then you cannot go to heaven. -

13 ¶ Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. Here ya go. -

Oh ok. YOure right we need to understand resurection. I also know that christ was baptised and if the son of the living god need be baptised than how much more do we need it then him... He was innocent, but for w/e reason that only god knows we need it. Whether its symbolism or if its a lteral change in our body. Ill relay a story. I was seven years old and a friend of mine showed me porn. I left the room not knowing it was realy bad, but just not intersted. The next week I turned 8 and was baptised and I recieved the holy ghost. I stayed at my friends again and he decided to turn it on again. I immediately had the worst feeling. LIke I knew if my mother new I would be doomed and more over if god new I would be doomed. I left and went home immediately. The holy ghost was there for me and I know its something needed in this life and Im sure the next. -
I believe it goes even deeper than the money. She is also staying under their roof. They will continue the have control over her while she lives their IMO. She said she lives by herself. ... or... just controlling grandparents! Or that lol, but doesnt satan have an influence over the grandparents. lol

If we remember Christ took 3 days to be resurected so he was in paadise for a bit. Dr. T. I respect your opinion on many things. You bring great points, but if you want me to keep an open mind than I would ask the same. -

Hence the word "paradise" That isnt heaven. It is a resting place for the good people. If we also remember Joseph Smith saw his brother in the celestial kingdom before he was baptised. God works with different time levels. Joseph couldve seen the future for all I know. We see the parade passing while god sees the whole thing from begining to end. Im sure I have a source somewhere for the early christians supporting it, but you and I both agree that it wont prove it right or wrong. -
LOL yes long haha.

Im wondering though how it was "evident" that paul was saying "even the pagans believe in it" Ok for arguing purposes lets say your right. What than happens to those that never had a chance to accept the gospel. We both know Jesus was baptised to fulfill all righteousness and that baptism is essentail. P.S. when I said it was pagan I meant merely that pagans had practiced it. So did may early christians. -
Girls are supposed to have log hair lol. And the church teaches good hygiene and that includes shaving. THe missionaries have to shave. Girls and Guys. LOL this is a cool thread.

Vicarious Ordinances (i.e. Baptism For The Dead)

Two passages in 1 Peter provide evidence that the Gospel was preached to those who had died without a knowledge of Christ. Here is 1 Peter 3:18-21: 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.... And here is 1 Peter 4:6, which follows a reference in verse 5 to "him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead": For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. I also love these passages. also D&C 127: 5-10 is interseting. -
JUst remember its Satan trying to keep you away from the true church of Christ.

Wow. I have a home teaching family with a severely mentally disabled child and they go to church evry week. There are two other children with a similar disability in the otehr ward. I honestly think that there is something funny here if they wouldnt want him at church. What do you mean by "doesnt fit in" How much could he fit in? Im sure they trat him with kindness right?
