Yeah, well you've never had to agree with Vort in person like I have. Or watch him feed your son vinegar.

Let Women Pray in General Conference
MorningStar replied to MorningStar's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I pointed out to a ward member tonight that women do pray at General Conference if you count the Relief Society conference as part of General Conference, which it is. The way I see it is there are many more male General Authorities and I do like the talks from women even if their voices often drive me up the wall too. -

Thanks for the link! I was born in 1975, so I missed a lot of that. -

Do you have a link? -
Now that the pants protest has passed, the latest Facebook thing going around is, "Let women pray in General Conference". Funny because I was talking to a friend and she and I never noticed that women don't pray during conference. I've also heard that only men used to pray during sacrament meeting. Is that true? I'm curious about the reason for these things, but I know they don't ask just any guy to pray during General Conference.

How Much is License Renewal in Your State?
MorningStar replied to MorningStar's topic in General Discussion
They should do it like car tabs, just give you a sticker picture of yourself to add to the license. -

How Much is License Renewal in Your State?
MorningStar replied to MorningStar's topic in General Discussion
I could've sworn ours was in the $20 range the last time I renewed, so that was an unwelcome surprise. I shouldn't be surprised though since our state can't seem to do anything within budget. Years ago we voted for a highway to be expanded and the funds were supposed to go towards that, but it wasn't finished and then they were begging for more money again. -
I was shocked to discover it's $45 to renew our licenses in our state now. Ow. How much is it in your state?

These word games make me so mad. Certain politicans gave a false impression that only the rich would be taxed more when they know what matters to people is, "Will my paycheck be lower?" We will be seeing about $100 less a month, which hurts us. It's no consolation that it was just the temporary reduction ending. Sorry you took such a big hit!

I apologize for the accidental ear nibbling I engaged in. Repeatedly. During the opening prayer. And the closing one.

Yes, sometimes you need to borrow hands or you can hit the lowest note briefly and move up to the higher note (treating it like a grace note). One thing I learned in music theory: Hymns are written for voices - not for pianists, so they are a bit awkward. We had assignments where we had to convert hymns into a more keyboard friendly arrangement. I don't remember how to do that anymore. And I spent most of that class puking my guts out.

Sacrament Meeting and little kids.......
MorningStar replied to idahommie's topic in General Discussion
I think there is a reasonable amount of noise and then there is a certain level when the child needs to be taken into an empty classroom for a time-out and then they can choose to go back to the chapel and quietly look at a book or color. It takes a while to train them, but it does get better. -
Sacrament Meeting and little kids.......
MorningStar replied to idahommie's topic in General Discussion
Do Catholics have a nursery during mass? My Lutheran friend's church offers nursery for kids up to age 3 or something. -
So now religion is don't ask don't tell and we just have to shut up and take pictures of homosexuals getting "married"?
-
I don't think they should untie their knickers during church. That would be inappropriate.
-
Mr. MorningStar sometimes rubs my back in church because he knows my back hurts. The fact that we lay down in the pew and make out a little has nothing whatsoever to do with the back rub.
-
I would definitely be there.

Mr. MorningStar goes on a quest to seek the cure for the behavior, but it only gets worse. Fat Michele Pfeiffer shoves Brendan Fraser right out of the bed. That's all I'm saying. What I don't understand is how did a perk employers offered voluntarily become a requirement? How can the government tell a company that they have to provide insurance? A large company here provided 100% coverage for their employees, but now that there will be a 40% tax on "cadillac plans", that's gone. And no, I don't think Hobby Lobby or any other company should be required to cover birth control. Birth control isn't what's insanely expensive anyway. If you walk into a public health building, you can grab some free condoms.

Oh yes, I definitely get sinus infections when I've been crying a lot. This month has been hard, so crying did not help. I'm not usually much of a cryer, but there's only so much tragedy I can handle before I crack. I really should try cutting out sugar. Sounds like quite the challenge!

Yes, I was using it two times a day when I started treating the chronic sinus infection, but one day when I woke up, it was just too inflamed. My doctor wants me to have no carpet, wipeable furniture, no blinds or curtains (wipeable pull down shades instead), nothing in my room that collects dust, and I'm supposed to use a dehumidifer, air purifier, covers for pillows and the mattress, and I'm supposed to use a vacuum with a hepa filter every few days, plus wet dust often, which I'm supposed to do wearing a mask. Well, he said ideally someone else in the family would do all of that. And I have to wash my bedding in very hot water every 3-4 days. Before I started this routine, I was on the verge of needing surgery. There's nothing I can do about the carpet or furniture right now, so he told me just to focus on my bedroom.

This sounds pretty great. Obviously not a home remedy, but it might bring sweet relief. What is Balloon Sinuplastyâ„¢? | Balloon Sinuplastyâ„¢ by Acclarent

I use something similar- a sinus rinse bottle and sometimes it's so inflamed, the water won't pass through. It comes out my mouth. Ugh!

I have also read about the use of himalayan sea salt. They have an inhaler that supposedly works, but seems more successful with asthma than sinus issues. Anyone try that? They're $40 and I can't bring myself to buy one. There is also cayenne pepper nasal spray. Ow. I'm just scared to try that.
