  1. I WISH that was all that was needed. That only starts the process. My take on the original question: Yes, the Telestial Kingdom better than anything we know here and now. But, we will have to stand before our Savior on that infamous judgement day. At that moment, if not before, we will see and understand what the Celestial kingdom is, as Christ embodies the highest of what we can and should be reaching for. If, when we are before Him, we have not lived up to all we should have, it will not be a pleasant experince. We will become completely aware of our mistake. We will at that moment fall at His feet, and I don't want to know what we'll experience. The scriptures tell us that we'll have all our sins open to Him, and have to pay our own price for them. The scriptures tell us what He went thru in the Garden at His time of Atonement, making even Him bleed at every pore. What will our pain be like? We should NEVER be "satisfied" with "only" attaining the Telestial kingdom. The price is too much.
  2. Thanks! I was wondeing about that when I "reported" Vangelis' post the other night. Never done a reporting before. It had a box that I guess is where I was supposed to put the quote, but didn't know what it wanted.
  3. I'm very happy for you! B) Don't forget that answer. You-know-who also knows that you got such an answer, and has some nasty tactics to discourage you. I grew up never wanting to go on a mission. No way. Wasn't gonna do it. Couldn't see myself spending 2 long years knocking on doors. But I did. Went out almost a year late, but I did it. And am very glad I did.
  4. I got on here last night, and he had just posted another diatribe that just had to go. So I "reported" the post, and then got on there and harrased him to no end. I think I finally insulted him enough that he must have deleted his post and left. I couldn't believe the way he wrote. "Vulger" and "repulsive" come to mind. He was using bleeped out swear words in the same sentance talking about the church's leaders, including Pres. Hinkley. This forum doesn't need his contributions.
  5. Save your breath. Hopefully that idiot is gone.
  6. Gads, if Bro. Nibley wrote it, they're probably ALL good!
  7. Wierd. Amazing how they twist "us" around for a story. Ever see that cable series(HBO, Showtime, or whatever it was) mostly about Mormons? I tuned to it once, and there was a guy, on his knees beside his bed, in his garments, praying because he was trying to handle his gay-ness! Plain wack-o!
  8. "Eschatological" No wonder I can't follow your threads. My vocabulary isn't THAT big. Ok. I can take the hint. Stepping out now. BTW, no biggie to me, but these threads would probably get more responses over at http://www.mormonapologetics.org/
  9. Hmmm....sorry friend. Either I'm lost(still), or maybe you're trying to make it more difficult than it's supposed to be. Dunno. Christ suffered the atonement, openening the way for us. We accept his sacrifice by going thru the process of repentance. If we're lucky, we don't repeat the same sins again. But, being human and imperfect, there's always more to overcome and repent of. Therefore, we are continually repeating the process. To me, that's about it. Simple, concise. BTW, we also generally put more emphasis on the atonement in the garden, than his death. That's what makes it all work. His death sealed the atonement, but without the atonement, His death would have been just another death. More or less. He actually suffered more in the garden than He did on the cross. But then maybe you realize all this. I just get the impression many other faiths kind of miss that point.
  10. Very well put. That counselor friend I talked about earlier in this thread told me something along those lines. "The act itself would be no big deal, except for what accompanies it, and what it leads to." Or words close to that.
  11. Yeah, just think of polygomy. Supposed to work pretty much that way on the other side.
  12. yeah, maybe I'm lost here, too. Oh well. Sorry. I'm not real "deep" sometimes.
  13. While your article is just a bit windy for me, I caught the general idea you're talking about. The answer is "no". We, as LDS, don't believe in a one-time repentance/forgiveness. It's a life-long process. A quote: "Great reinforcement and a sustaining power to succeed come when there is a determination to keep all of the commandments. The Lord expects a lifelong commitment to obey the plan of happiness, including continuing repentance as needed. He has said, “He only is saved who endureth unto the end" http://www.lds.org/portal/site/LDSOrg/menu...Nav=1#footnote9
  14. Oh well. I've made my case, and feel it's plain and clear, not complicated. I left the MADB board for the very reason of threads like this one. I won't go on ad infintum on an issue. Any issue. Ya'll have fun B)
  15. No. What I mean by "tearing down", is a person that is actively out there working against us. One who is trying to persuade members to "get smart" and leave the church, and/or disuade non-members from joining, or even investigating. that's "anti". Simple as that. I don't even think "they" would disagree with me on that. BTW, I just moved from Arlington a couple years ago. Actually, Granite Falls, but we had an Arlington address.
  16. Agreed. My brother has left the church, but I don't think he's really "anti". Just disagrees. Mostly with our claim to be "the only true church". But he's not out trying to tear us down. That's when you become "anti".
  17. Sorry, but I don't think there's a pat-answer to this one. Yeah, missionaries need to be focused, ect, ect. But each situation needs it's own consideration. Look at your situation, look at all the usual pat-answers, pray, and go from there. Each relationship carries it's own unique circumstances. For myself, "she" did wait, and were still married almost 28 years later. BUT!! She went on a mission too
  18. Not sure if this is what you're after, but here goes: http://www.meridianmagazine.com/ http://speeches.byu.edu/?act=browse&sp...amp;x=8&y=7 http://www.fairlds.org/webguide.html
  19. Very wise B) Shows good judgement, IMHO. :) How do you come to live in SLC? Native, or imported?
  20. I'm not sure...............but.................I think I feel a tug on my leg here..............
  21. Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Yes, it does change your life. I'll step out on a limb here, only because it was so long ago. I was involved in, well, let's just say some immoral activity. I was trying to stay active at athe same time. Not easy!!!! I was at some stake meeting, maybe a saturday session of stake conference, don't recall right now. Then right in the middle of one of the songs we were singing(don't remember which), I was hit hard over the head with the Spirit. I couldn't sing another note, barely able to maintain my composure. I just remember saying over and over to myself "What have I done?!" That week, I got in to see the Bishop. Had a Bishop's court. Came thru with "only" a 6 month parole. The Bishop's court was one of the hardest things I've ever been thru, but also was like the world was lifted off me! Thank goodness for a forgiving Heavenly Father, and a forgiving wife!
  23. My wife got her arm twisted into becoming the organist some 10 years ago. She didn't have a clue! Played the piano ok, but not an expert. The ward was split, and almost all of the musical talent went the other way. The new Bishop all but got on his knees and begged her to take the calling. Only good part to all this, was the organ our building had. You didn't need to be able to play the pedals. You hit a button, and the thing sounded like you knew what you were doing! But she had terrible butterflys every sunday morning for the 8 years she had the calling. Only got out of it when we moved. So, should you feel obligated? Dunno. Pray about it, give it serious thought. I think it kinda depends on the overall circumstances.
  24. Small world! B) I have relatives out your way, and work with a guy that lives that direction somewhere. BTW, to all outsiders, it's not hOOper, it's hUper, short "u", like "uh"
  25. Up in Mayberry, R.F.D. Oops, no. That would be Brigham City
