Of course only the Lord knows, but in my opinion, Emma will be with Joseph. In my view, I'm not sure Joseph could have accomplished his life's mission without the love, care, support and strength of his dear wife. I hope no Latter-day Saint ever condemns this remarkable woman. Here is a .It starts with a quote from Lucy Mack Smith: "I have never seen a woman in my life who would endure every species of fatigue and hardship from month to month, and from year to year, with that unflinching courage, zeal and patience which she has ever done. For I know that which she has had to endure. She has been tossed upon the ocean of uncertainty, she has breasted the storms of persecution and buffeted the rage of men and devils, which would have borne down almost any other woman."

The new website is wonderful--truly one of the most modern (even "web 2.0"ish) projects that the Church has produced.

There are few videos that I think are "must-see", but this is one of those. In 2002, the Church produced a film called "Between Heaven and Earth." The scholars/authorities that appear in this film include: Frank Moore Cross (Harvard), Krister Stendahl (Harvard), Lawrence Schiffman (NYU), John Lundquist, Truman Madsen, Elder Boyd K. Packer, and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, among others. If you have not seen this, this is worth watching! FAIR has definitely done a great job, I hope they will continue to put up videos and ideally other groups too (FARMS, etc.) Also a lot of Church-related videos here on Youtube. More about basic beliefs and church organization that could be used in discussions.

I understand the simple one or two sentence response to this question that America was potentially one of the few, maybe the only, place where freedom of religion was a significant enough principle that the Church could be established and survive (though not without persecution). Are there any articles or talks that explain this more in depth? Anybody have any thoughts?

Elphaba, This part of the video is not altered much from how it appears in the Church film. The hand that reaffirms Joseph on his shoulder belongs to Hyrum, not Emma. (I didn't cut anything out there, it just doesn't show clearly in the movie I guess).
