  1. Thanks Heather, this is definitely an awesome video. I plan to share this!
  2. Awesome new video produced by the Church, using Elder Holland's last conference talk: Definitely worth watching. Please also copy this link and pass it on--email it to friends/family, ward members, etc. I hope this can become one of the top videos on Youtube bout the Church.
  3. I strongly agree with Jolly here on the use of the word "hallucination." They call it a "vision" and I believe using the word "hallucination" is derogatory. Our opponents do the same thing to us by carefully selecting words that have a very negative connotation even if they are close to accurate. Let's not follow their example.
  4. Not sure one way or the other, but I think it was at a fireside (if that changes anything).
  5. A great video of David Archuleta singing "Be Still My Soul":
  6. There is a DVD prepared by the Church for those in the military. I have not watched all of it, but it is available on Youtube: YouTube - LDS Mormon Military: Message of Peace - 1
  7. Awesome, thanks! Just accepted your friend invite. Hopefully we can make a strong Youtube LDS community. I send out an LDS video every week or two to my friends -- only the best!
  8. I'd really like to connect with any LDS.net members on Youtube. You can go to my profile at youtube.com/lds9999 and add me as a friend! Or let me know your username and I'll come track you down. :)
  9. For those of you who have watched many LDS Youtube videos, you've probably come across Seth Adam Smith's videos, which are awesome. Here is his latest: YouTube - What Mormons REALLY Know
  10. For me, it can be intimidating usually because I am worried that I might somehow offend them by my reaching out, and thereby push them farther away from the Church.
  11. My "mission field" on the Internet is primarily Youtube. :) So I'm excited to see this article: Meridian Magazine :: Arts: New Film on Extending the Priesthood to Worthy Men of Every Race
  12. I realize now I posted this thread in the wrong forum (but Heather already posted it in the Youtube section). Anyway, just thought it's interesting that because of how much it's been watched in the last couple days, this video is now #1 when you search for "Mormon". It won't stay there permanently, but as long as it keeps getting this level of views. Help pass it on!
  13. I wouldn't fully agree with this. Of course there will always a be a few who that might happen to. But for the most part, these "young bucks" are already the Internet super-users who spend hours a day on Facebook, on Youtube, and on the Internet in general. They are already met with things they have never heard or thought of--encouraging them to blog about their faith and join the discussion will not add a lot fuel to the fire. If the Internet has had a negative impact on the Church thus far, I personally believe that will start to change. First, more positive content is being put up constantly, including answers to every "anti-Mormon" claim I've come across. Second, the younger generation (the super-users I've mentioned) are more skilled at researching on the Internet and will be able to find the answers to the issues. The most important thing I've learned during my time online is that for every issue or question you have about gospel doctrine, Church history, etc., there are many faithful, smart Latter-day Saints who have also spent time thinking about it and can help share what they have found in their research and thinking. There are answers--just be willing to find it. Every Latter-day Saint, in this Internet age, needs to understand that.
  14. The Church just uploaded a wonderful new video to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1978 revelation given to President Kimball, extending the priesthood to worthy men of every race. I believe this video was shown at the celebration held at the Conference Center the other night, but otherwise isn't available anywhere else. This is a major event in our Church history. I am asking people to help support this video by blogging about it, e-mailing it to your ward members, friends/family, etc. This is still a very big topic today among members and non-members, and this is an excellent video. Please pass it on!
  15. Glad to see you here. At the last General Conference, President Monson said this in his closing remarks: "Change for the better can come to all. Over the years we have issued appeals to the less active, the offended, the critical, the transgressor—to come back. “Come back and feast at the table of the Lord, and taste again the sweet and satisfying fruits of fellowship with the Saints.”2 In the private sanctuary of one’s own conscience lies that spirit, that determination to cast off the old person and to measure up to the stature of true potential. In this spirit, we again issue that heartfelt invitation: Come back. We reach out to you in the pure love of Christ and express our desire to assist you and to welcome you into full fellowship. To those who are wounded in spirit or who are struggling and fearful, we say, Let us lift you and cheer you and calm your fears. Take literally the Lord’s invitation, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”3 It was said of the Savior that He “went about doing good . . . for God was with him.”4 May we follow that perfect example. In this sometimes precarious journey through mortality, may we also follow that advice from the Apostle Paul which will help to keep us safe and on course: “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
  16. I've been around for a few months, but never really introduced myself. I'm a life-long member of the Church, served a mission in Europe, and graduated from BYU. As you all have probably noticed by my posts and signature, one of my hobbies is posting LDS content on Youtube. Last fall, I felt like I needed to do something more on the Internet; when Elder Ballard's talk came, I decided to just start. And it has grown into something more than I would have imagined. I enjoy very much my time here and most of the discussions that take place! :)
  17. Welcome again! When will your baptism be?
  18. I really enjoyed watching them. I'm sure everybody can learn something new from watching these.
  19. This is a collection of videos that I thought people might enjoy:
  20. Thanks everybody for your great comments and insights!
  21. This is likely a very familiar scripture to most, found in Ether 12:27. And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them. I love the message of this scripture, but had never before really caught the "I [God] give unto men weakness". I had never really thought of this before--is this interesting, thought-provoking, or new to anyone else? I just find it interesting that it is the Lord who gives us weaknesses.
  22. That's great. Your blog is awesome, thanks for all you're doing.
  23. I'll work on getting some of the LDS videos from Youtube in the video section here, thanks for making that available. A Youtube forum would be interesting, if there's enough interest. (I know there's a really long thread somewhere that is the Youtube thread, but one thread can be difficult.)
  24. This thread may or may not be "sticky-worthy"; instead I think it would be great to have a sticky that has a number of the best videos available on Youtube/here, particularly for those looking in the "Learn about the Mormon Church" section. Just a suggestion!
