  1. Natural selection IMO. Im sorry but if you get "bullied" ONLINE!!!!??!! Turn off the computer and go outside. Oh heres the obligatory sympathy I have to express lest I be called heartless: "Its a shame and I feel for the family. What a tragedy."
  2. The important question here is being lost in your arguement of semantics and "control". Your kid wants to know how he can tell if the church is true, impartial to any upbringing you might have influenced him with!! That is a moment of a life-time. Pray about it and dont let it slip by mixing religion with "Freud" and "reasons" and whatever else has been clouding the question. Show him examples of life without the gospel. Take him to a different church service one morning and let him feel the lack of spirit FIRST HAND!! Then let him experience prejudice and hatred by telling members of that congregation you guys are LDS and see how the mood and tones change. This is a great opportunityIMO.
  3. It was a good idea til he got it in his head he didn't need us anymore. I make no excuses or apologies for our political manipulation. Its just not how things get done in 2008. If it were I would back it 100% still....you preachin at the wrong part of the crowd Atrain :) Find someone else to hate on the US with you, Ill have no part in it. Even though we have done some INCREDIBLY stupid things in the past lol. That one Ill agree with! yes
  4. A-train: You act like the US involvment in other nations and conflicts over the last 100 years was some sort of immoral thing. It is not. It was how world politics were played. We happened to play it better than most last century. Now however, that way of thinking and way of doing world business has changed. We dont operate that way anymore, or should I say to a smaller extent. The US has done some shady things int he past..just like every other nation. I make no apologies for them, and I enjoy the fruits of our efforts. So do you. So before you get too magnanimous about it, it's those very decisions and actions that are allowing us to whine to each other over the internet :)
  5. Just a small story has always been one of my favorites. When the scum suckers came to kill Jesus, what did his buddies do? Peter "smote a dudes ear off" now that tells me a couple things..1 he was trying to cut off his head!!! awesome. 2- the rest doesnt matter, a former apostle tried to cut off someones HEAD!! you cant get any cooler than that :)
  6. I didnt say any of that..it was atrain I believe. Sorry, been gone a couple days...wifes birthday :) to make it short..Iraq and Iran both suffered with that senseless war they had with each other. Questions?
  7. Every single house in Iraq was touched as a result of the Iran/Iraq war. EVERY single one. I had people tell me in Iraq that if the US declared war on Iran that they would try to join the army to fight them lol. There is alot to that region that you wont learn on CNN or paranoid radio without going there in person I am afraid
  8. I met muslim families that are far more tolerant and peaceful and industrious than most families I have met here in utah. Just thought I would put that out there since no one refuted it :) And good morning btw :)
  9. So, your going to research the Quakers....through the internet.....on a computer? lol I would say continue to read the BoM, pray about it and invite missionaries to come and speak with you. They sometimes have just the right answer to the question you really have in your heart, without having to ask it.
  10. Slow your roll there bucko :) If all things are as they have been typed, there has been no physical adultry, even if there was the first option is almost ALWAYS repentance and forgiveness. Read your D&C. Lawyers are out of the question til you need one. they always muck things up. However, someone needs to go to the bishop ASAP. It just shows him something if its the sinner doind it rather than the spouse. And as alwys, trust in the Lord and not the internet :)
  11. I do..unfortunately its time for me to go home :) Ill post tomrrow if the thread doesnt take off without me and I forget ( i am getting old you know )
  12. I cant recall off hand I apologize. I have recently returned to my faith after a long period of inactivity. At one time I could tell you right away If I remember right its in Mosiah. Its also referred to in Corinthians and extensively in the D&C.
  13. I completely understand that and IMO its all part of the plan. Have you seen ANYTHING in life that was simple?? I sure haven't lol.
  14. That is a very long process than many smarter people than you or I have failed at for many years but IMO it all boils down to education and tolerance. Something the US needs work on and arabs are failing miserably on. Without education and learning that we are all the same with the same desires, hopes and fears people will continue to think more of themselves than they do their fellow man. Every single educated Iraqi I met supports us and denounces violence 100%. Almost without exception. The only educated terrorist is a religious nut-job. But its a long discussion that I dont' feel I have the ability to discuss with you on a message board But I do respect your opinion and I AM sworn to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. Trust me, if a domestic enemy presented itself in an outright dis-appropriate manner I would engage that enemy with an equal amount of fervor :)
  15. LOL that happens to me too cause I am at work and have to do "work" sometimes and miss a whole thread! That does not mean the PEOPLE in those churches aren't doing the right thing though. I see sooo many people getting insulted right off the bat because they think that statement means, "You are wrong and going to HELL!!" You have to remember that the Lord was referring to organizations not the followers. Dang..have to work..be back to finish lol
  16. Thats a little longer of a story :) And taken in conjunction with further understanding from the Bible ( mainly the New Testament) it makes perfect sense. It also becomes apparent what the writers of various passages meant when taken in full view. That view however comes with a testimony. And that comes at different rates for everybody.
  17. OK..Lets talk :) First off, we need to focus our energies on solutions to put out the fire and then try to place blame, instead of watching the house burn down trying to figure out whos at fault before we act. Second, I do not buy any story of "why" we went in and I don't think we will ever really know 'til I can ask Jesus himself. Having said that, I have had more Iraqis than I can possibly remember tell me face to face, some of them in tears, that they were happier than I could know that the US kicked Saddam out. Now some of those people have I 'm sure, grown weary of the lack of dedication and commitment we have shown in fixing the country afterwards. However, many of them do not care if it EVER gets fixed, they would rather live in the chaos they have now than live under an evil regeime any longer. Its a tough call to say I am sorry I went because I am not. DId it suck to be away from my family for an entire year? yes. Did it suck to get grenades thrown at me all the time? A little, it was kinda cool sometimes lol. Did it suck even worse when I got involutarily recalled to be away from my family for a SECOND year? absolutely. But I brought hope to children of hour Heavenly Father in ways no one else could. Me. Personally, I did. And I made it back with all of my parts and most of my brains intact. When the last of my brothers come back and no one is still over there fighting the fight while I sit here in comfort, I will remain vigilant and pray for them and support them any way I can. After that, heck yeah..Im going to demand some answers. Good enough for you? I don't think anything negative at all about your post and I hope I don't come off at all like that. I was refering to actions in general not mine at all. I did nothing I will be ashamed of in front of anyone, except maybe a few mean tricks on my friends EDIT: And a couple things I can't post on these boards because of content, but I would be happy to relate them to you in private lol
  18. LOL first of all thats an awesome reason lol. I like short. Second, I don't like the idea of humans claiming they are killing in the name of God either, I have seen my share and I don't like it either. However, it wasn't like he woke up and said "Hey, I think God wants me to kill " God literally told him too.
  19. I dont know about you guys but the truthfulness of the Gospel I have seen, felt, heard, and experienced outweighs anything that might discredit Abraham, Joseph, or any reason not to believe that God has lead me exactly where he wants me to be :) Men aren't perfect, but God is :)
  20. I guess that means if I talk to someone Im related to with Skype ( an internet phone service) I must be breaking a commandment :)
  21. It depends on what you mean when you say the word god. It's coming close but I wouldnt say youve crossed the literal line yet. If when you say "god" you mean entity that created the universe, created our savior Jesus Christ, created us, and the only One in whom we pray to and worship , then yes, by all means we say there is but 1 God. I think you are misunderstanding the fact that there is more than 1 entity that is greater than us in spirit and power, but we ALL answer to our Father in Heaven..you know the one that Jesus said " My Father, your Father...my God and your God.
