  1. I'm old enough to no longer be self critical. Laughing it off, quickly making amends works for me. Every situation is unique. I like to think being silly several times a day is a good thing, and my lovely husband agrees. (No wonder we recently celebrated another anniversary together!) We're all sufficiently perfect as we are, on the path to perfection, to get over the things we think are dumb or to apologize to those who may think our actions are dumb. Yes, that's this old girl's story, and I'm sticking to it. By the way, the thing I most remember was by accident, and it still haunts me. Not really a dumb thing, but as a third grader my friend and I were on the playground...monkey bars and all, with back flips, turning round and round. My foot hit her in the face and I will never forget that sorrow. I wanted to crawl under my bed and go into the witness protection program when I saw the purple color around her eye.
  2. Fiannan, I also was surprised that a show's host would turn the topic into something personal for the guest. Still, we're talking to something new, wherein a show known for it's beginning with Hot Topics became media topics, over-personalized and ugly toward name-calling. IMO. Que
  3. Thank you for the hyphen. It's a cross I bear to sigh for the misspelling of "judgmental" among us as self-named christians (those who judge). Literacy counts.Willing you be well, Que To say that Rosie is loud and offensive is not a less than kind personal assault, nor is it name-calling. It is an assessment about about her public persona. Let us agree that we disagree. It was stated, unequivocally as fact (outside the IMO we debated) that "She's a loud mouth, offensive woman..." That is where personal opinions become a salient point. In my opinion. Que I'd be interested to learn more of your history, your church of choice, beliefs. To my knowledge we've not yet interacted online. That you know nothing of me, nor me of you, let me be surprised by your coarse assessment. Please. And where is Heather, in absentia. Que
  4. I agree with you that "an adult is accountable for their own actions and words." Thank you. We may disagree it becomes of value on Christian internet boards.I can appreciate many things about Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump without seeing myself as a fan. Again, in my opinion. Que Sera Squares do possess numbers of right angles. Will you be okay if I say I'll not let you drive the next time I want to make a square with tire tracks? From my count it would be three, not four lefts or right. With you at the wheel, there's no telling where we'd end up. If the last is to take me toward the mall, with your credit card, only then will I reconsider! Que
  5. Let us say it takes only one left from a starting point to accomplish that angle. From another perspective it could be said a starting point with a few right turns creates a triangle.
  6. Firstly, PC, why ever would you sometimes use the "mousey" IMHO. You wrote in support against that, sharing a story, saying you "generally agree with that teacher." It would then seem reasonable for me to assume one of two things: either you agree with that teacher or you do not fully agree with that teacher. Generally speaking, in my opinion. I've listened to the public personality reasoning before. How public need another become for a named Christian to laugh at them, invoking less than kind personal assaults toward someone they've never met? Laughter may be good medicine, in fun, when it does not include name-calling at another person's expense. Que Sera
  7. I trust you're not implying two wrongs make it suddenly Right?
  8. Let me guess you intended to write it's merely your opinion and/or perception of her as being a loud-mouthed, offensive woman. At the end of the day, that arrives as more perfect, grammatically and spiritually. Or not.Of course you're aware the woman in question lost her mother early in life. I cannot imagine losing my mother so early in life. It's also outside my experience to understand the pain of a parent's grief for a child's untimely death. So please, let us not beat her up here. ...in a Christian community, of all places. Let us walk a mile in her shoes... Que
  9. What would be a good test for females? The test for this female is to note your association with Rosey O'Donnell and Rosie. You're a closet Latter-day Saint awaiting the return of legalized polygamy?Only in fun, chap, Que
  10. Except the show on HBO isn't about Doctrines of the LDS Church, it's about polygamy and one polygamous family living in Utah. If you don't watch television it's outside this thread to discuss it in full. It's not the best show in the world but if you stop by a family or friend's house who owns a television, it runs more than once during the week. I'm surprised to read between the lines re Fiannan's words about polygamy to colleagues while in China, so I guess it can't be all that bad of a show. (Give me educational programs like Regis and Kelly, The View, real China plates and matching napkins.) Que Sera
  11. The "LDS position on polygamy" is that it is against God's laws. How does that equate with it making a lot of sense or any convincing necessary in that direction in a conversation? Further, in modern culture how do you see it helps rather than hinders? Que Sera
  12. Snow asked: Are you talking to yes's (possessive) numbers of wives, the yeses (plural). [Your] helping me laugh at the topic of polygamy.
  13. Over what weight, Fiannan? May airlines exact a surcharge for those with egos and judgment issues more heavy than another's body. Call it weighty spiritual baggage. Que Sera By the way, Maureen, it's my opinion this study is not.
  14. As someone who lives in a city I really can't say it's one or another. It can be just as easy for me in the city to find drive-thru and high-fat foods as to find numbers of sidewalks and school tracks open around the clock for counting the numbers of miles walked during any week. My city affords an opportunity for wholesome foods just as does the country when I was at my grandparents. Farm-raised chickens and vegetables at stores; farmers' markets and all that good stuff. 15. DOH? You have a way with words, Snow.I prefer contemplating the practice ceased (only openly, at least) in exchange for Statehood. Were it a true principal of God, what a cheap exchange, huh? Statehood for God's Truth . I like how Helen Mar Kimball's journal rated the practice--far less than favorable. ...and remain unconvinced the principal was ever perfect, godly, close to eternal.
  16. As your self-appointed VT from Notes, heck if I know: you never answer the door when I knock, so I've assumed you're charting your own path. Personally speaking, I leave you with this question: did your children drive the mini-van to and from Disneyland or were you at the wheel? Just a thought, boss. Knock, knock...
  17. You're a girl after my own heart, Curvette.Almost nothing worse than neighbors who aren't neighborly with animals: in other words, disrespectful pet owners. Ugh. I've grown to not despise cats, a little bit, and I'm quite fond of my dog. But my dog's stuff stays at home and is cleaned up. It's not only wise but healthy and respectful for me and my neighborhood; keeping flies from thinking this is their hometown is a good thing. When we walk in the evening outside our perimeter, we carry a doggie bag (no, not the restaurant type, lol). So I still can't figure neighbor cat owners who keep pets at home only at night. Why bother? I thought cats were house pets with litter boxes (a la kitty litter from the store and not grass and garden from our yards)? Que Sera
