  1. Missing I do enjoy your posts so I hope to keep seeing you. I tend to be one who loves to learn the gospel by study and by faith, after all it is the Lord's word we are learning about. We are limited in what knowldge we can gain here, though I do feel we are expected to search and study but it is in Prayer we get the correct answers, kind of like getting are tests corrected on what we learn.
  2. My question to you snow is, are you looking for an answer or a debate? Questions are always answered if you are humble to the answers. If you already have it in your mind that it is not true, you will not be able to feel and hear the small voice that comes from the spirt. Here in mortality with limited ablility we cannot prove answers to your question. The only way to know is to ask with real intent and willing to listen before you can be ready to hear the truth.
  3. I agree with funkytown and Tam, while all this info is nice this person is in need of help now. Let me also encourge the op to get some help, it is so important right now.
  4. My first post was not directed at you.
  5. There have been some really good answers to the questions that have been posted. Truth is still truth even if people don't agree with it. The basic doctrine of the church is correct. It is not about judgement it is about truth and the answer to the reality of that only come from the Holy Ghost and I stand by that. As far as the JST translation I believe it was done by the power of God.
  6. To explain my post is a bit like this. Sometimes when we try to understand something the reason the answer is not there is because we need to understand the basics better before we get that answer. Spending time trying to find fault in the JST will only pull away from that answer.
  7. Reading, searching and learning the gospel is a great thing to do. To understand the things of God, including scriptures and prophits messages is only do so by the power of the Holy Ghost. To try to reason truth yourself, you will always be learning and never come to an understanding of the Word and ways of God. Questions are good, but need to be asked with respect and reverance. Trying to find fault will only stop the learning process.
  8. Herbal teas are not actually a tea. It is concidered to be a herbal infusion, and would not have any of a tea leaf. Of course not all people know this, so before you drink it look on the ingrediants and if the tea leaf is not there it is not a tea at all. You would not be crossing a line if you drink herbal infusion, so you can chill about it.
  9. Hi all just to let you know Terrible Hurricane Ike did not Crush this nanny. Things are changing out there guys, just a friendly reminder to remember the real important things in this life. Spending a week wihout the things in life like water and power made my testomony grow another level.
  10. Sorry I don't like to be the Simon of movies but I thought the movie was a 4 at best. The storyline was ok but the acting was some of the worse I have seen. It was somewhat funny when he Lamenites went into the burger place. If they do another one I think they need better actors and director. Just my opinion.
  11. jimuk, I understand your pain and yes people will be held accountable. What I am trying to say is people must take the time to develop a testomony, reading scriptures, attending meetings and yes doing service. If a person does not develop this they will lose a great deal and are you going to spend your time complaining that no one is speaking to you when you could be doing everything you can to gain a testomony. Believe what it sayes in Moroni 10, you can gain truth in all things. Do this and you can be the one reaching out and you will gain blessings from it.
  12. It all comes down to faith, in a Father in Heaven, his gospel and in yourself. Though the same warm feelings should come from people in the church, the feelings that you feel from the Power of a true desire to know truth. Feeling alone in a room where you think it should be otherwise can be so confusing. Sometimes people can say things that are true but they somtimes say it in an unloving way but many are progressing in different ways. Members often don't understand how to aproach others, they don't want to hurt anothers feelings so they come off as being unfriendly as opposed as not fellowshiping, be carefull how you judge others motives. Many of us including myself often may sit alone at church but the feeling of being lonely is a choice. If you chose to leave the church know it is you that is making that choice.
  13. The laws of the church are of love. Obediance is what will protect you from the craftyness of Satin. Remember the church does not keep people out of the temple, we make that choice. This is a sad story and what happens will be between this mother and the bishop in her ward. Questions are fine but I am not ok with someones saying there is no love in the church. There is not a Sunday that goes by I don't feel the love of the Saviour in those walls.
  14. The big question should be is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the true church of Christ. We are mortals trying to learn what life is and what we are here for and if there is a God. The space we live in is time, and we chose what we will do with it. If you remember in The New Testement when Jesus told the Gentile it was not his time yet. There are so many things we could question, church history, pologmy etc.. but do you want to waste the time you have on these things? What answer do you really want? Satin is in full force trying all means to destry the Church of Christ and is as against the Lord as he has been from the beginning. What can anti-stuff do for you? And my answer to the op question is NO there is nothing about the church I question and it is in no way desturbing.
  15. Candyprpl, prayer is more about listening then it is about speaking. Prauer is also sacared and you have to be humble to hear and feel the love from your Hevenly Father. He does love you and it is up to you to want to feel that. Satin would love to have you feel otherwise.
  16. Vision had great advice, praying for faith and also pray to feel heard. Communicating through prayer is unique that you are using a differnt form of sences. To become open and humble takes time visit Enos in the Book of Mormon, I am sure you will relate. Hevenly Father always hears us and you can always feel that even if you don't get an answer. This may sound strange but sometimes there is a part of us not wanting to feel, that open to the spirt, to give control to your desire to pray. Try this next time you kneel down ,after amen, don't just pop up, take some time to feel the peace that comes from true humble prayer.
  17. Vision is making some good points. I would caution that anything not in the lines of authority of the priesthood should be avoided. Prospectmom you should be carefull saying using magic is ok if you are wise enough to tell the difference between the good and the tricks of Satin. The gifts of God are spirtual in nature and only given to those worthy and they are NOT forms of magic. Vision may be young but he is making very good choices and his answers are correct. The sunset, babies etc.. are beautiful gifts from heaven.
  18. kart is right filming is not permitted at a sacarment meeting or a chapel and I applaud her standing her ground on this. Now if you read the comments under the utube it sayes this was filmed at treatment center and is a fireside. Don't worry Kart many here will find holes from me because of my spelling ability:)
  19. I am in complete agreement with Rameumptom, the gospel of the Saviour is of love. People have a right to their choices and no I don't agree with other teachings. Insults though are not in teachings of the Spirt and it will leave in acts like these.
  20. Let me just sujest something here, that there will always be a debate. The only real way to have a testomony in Joseph Smilth, his vision and what he was told is to ask in prayer, really wanting to know and are humble, only then will the Holy Ghost testify as to the truth. With a testomony of truth you then can love the truths that other churches can have, and many do have some truth. However I do believe what Joseph Smith was told as to that none of the faiths had the true gospel and I have to believe he ment the gospel in its fulliness. When you try to use your own wisdom to debate truth you will always fall short and the debate only turns into ugly gossip. The gospel is learned and its truth is not up for debate. Life is to short to spend it in trying to understand the wisdom of God his church by using human logic, when the truth is only a Prayer away.
  21. This topic is getting so beat to the ground. The orginal question was can mormon's drink tea. Many are doing their best to answer it. The gospel is not ment to be debated, yes it is to be learned but not in an agressive way. Many of us feel it an honor to follow the Lord and teach his word. That should be enough to answer why we have The Word of Wisdom and why we believe it is ment for us, our body, mind and spirt. Many of us will not find the answer why. Achohol, hot drinks, drugs and smoking are not ment for our pleasure. That is why many LDS people chose to follow it. Some of the things said specifically, that is why we believe in Modern day Scripture and prophets to help us. When the Word of Wisdom was recorded in The Doctrine and Covenants it said hot drinks, that we know means Tea and Coffee. Because we believe the church is under the direction of the Lord through a Prophet we believe that is what the Lord sayes. Those wanting to know what the beliefs are welcomed to ask questions, when you get an answer you have the right to ask in prayer to ask if the answer is correct. You only stay in the dark when you try to reason something you don't understand.
  22. KuriChan you make some really good points. Sometimes we can spend more time trying to anaylize the WOW instead of learning to follow it. It all comes from learning and praying about doctrine. Sometimes we really don't know the WHY and following the commandments is at times blind for a while I think we will know the answers when the Lord is ready to teach it to us. The WOW is quite clear about not partaking of coffee, tea, alcohol and drugs and yes we could try and read into it but I think we do know the answer.
  23. Wow means "The Word of Wisdom." This comes from Modern Revelation in the Doctrine and Covenants. Drinking Tea is one that we are to avoid, not to be confused with Herbel infusions which are really not teas. Sometimes commandments that we are ment to follow don't always have a clear answer. With faith in following them we gain a testomony of them. What I can tell you is that The Word of Wisdom does come from God and we do know the things we are not ment to partake of. Obediance to commandments and gaining faith will bring answers to our questions but on the Lord's time table. As you learn about to Church you can take your questions in prayer, but start with the basic first and that is if it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ that he started while in his mortal life is here and if The Church of Jesus Christ is that church. If you really have a desire to know you will get an answer. To anwer your questions if Mormons drink water, I am sure you know that answer which is yes of course we do, sodas are ok as well. Alcohol is a no and it is less about the caffeine in tea and more to do with the tea leaf itself. Smoking, drugs and Hot Drinks (coffee and Tea) are a no. Many of us love to answer questions as long as there is respect, you don't have to agree but we want respect for our beliefs.
  24. This answer is in the Doctrine and Covenants, it is quite specfic to the three Glories. Sometimes we spend more time trying to get the deep answers when really we should try praying for an answer. Remember we are taught doctrine line upon line and we will get the answers after we understand the doctrine ahead of it. If you want to understand the things of God you have to start by wanting to. Yes all the Kingdoms will be a Heaven but the only one where we can continue to learn and grow in will be in the Celestial Kingdom. To get there you must have the ordinances that are ordained of God. Will all the Kingdoms be beautiful I believe they will.
  25. This has become quite a topic, and the answers are always found though not when we think we want an answer. Remember we are taught line upon line, and if you get angry or offended allot of time it is because you are trying to get to Z when you are really still at the beginning. Another problem is because there is quilt somewhere and guilt is a good thing it can bring a person to the beginning of the repentance process. Perhaps instead of the contention we can focus on the love of a Hevenly Father and how much he loves us and willing to give us all including answers.
