MrNirom Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 Is there a list anywhere that shows who the Apostles of the Church have been in this dispensation? Some once told me that one of them was 12 years old... Is this true? Thanks. Quote
MrNirom Posted June 26, 2008 Author Report Posted June 26, 2008 Since the restoration?I would say at least in Joseph's day. I am just trying to prove to someone that a 12 year old boy was never called as an Apostle of the Church. Quote
Hemidakota Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 Never happened. There has been 95 apostles called since his day that I am aware of... Quote
skalenfehl Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Never happened. There has been 95 apostles called since his day that I am aware of...The 96th was just ordained this year:Yesterday Elder D. Todd Christofferson became the 96th Apostle to serve in the Twelve in this dispensation. He will be ordained an Apostle and given all the priesthood keys conferred upon the other 14 prophets, seers, and revelators—Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ.--May 2008 Ensign Magazine, General Conference IssueLDS.org - Ensign Article - The Twelve Quote

The person that said he objected to our idea of Apostles being restored and being 12 years old.. wrote me back and apoligized saying it should be Deacons.. not Apostles. So I appreciate everyone's input! Hemidakota Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Now, who was the youngest ordained Apostle from the restoration? Anyone? LOL Quote
sixpacktr Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Pres Monson has to rank up there somewhere. Wasn't he only in his 30s when he was ordained? Of course the Prophet Joseph would have been younger (was he ever ordained as an apostle? I know he was the 1st Elder and then President, but was he ever ordained as an apostle?). Quote
Hemidakota Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 It is assumed that Joseph Smith would be the youngest but I cannot see anyone else outside of President Monson that was called before 32-years old. Quote
rameumptom Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Try President Grant. He was in his early 20s. Quote
Hemidakota Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 25-years old So far Ram has it [out of 96 Apostles] Born Nov. 22, 1856; ordained an Apostle, Oct. 16, 1882; became President of the Council of Twelve Apostles, Nov. 23, 1916; chosen and ordained President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nov. 23, 1918. california_ave Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 Joseph's cousin, George A. Smith, was 21 years old when called an apostle. He was the youngest apostle of this dispensation. George later served as a counselor to BY and was the grandfather of his namesake and later church president. Quote
