Winnie G Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Have you seen the village (movie) Saw it on the weekend, Loved it!What a twist!I kind of figured it out since it was done by the some director as??? Oh hack (I see dead people) he has a thing for red.I found my self-saying out load “ what the heck is that”? at one point after I settled back in to my set from the jump out of my skin.Go see it. Faerie Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 I LOVED this movie!!! So many twists, he gets better and better w/ each new movie!! Quote
Guest jackvance88 Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 gosh it was boring! the acting was terrible, all too wooden and stilted. it was slow. the twist wasn't that exciting. city weekly gave it one star. and, worst of all, the director (whatever his name is) lied to us. As the film starts the date appears as a subtitle, informing us that it's 1890 (or some year in the 19 C). that was therefore a lie. he obviously didn't have faith in his ability to make us believe that without pulling that one on us. Faerie Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 uh..jack...that was kind of the whole point...way to go on giving away key parts of the movie!!! Quote
toto Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 The beginning was slow, but you really start to get into it. I loved the twist to it. It keeps you at the edge of your seat. The funny thing is that the director is always in the movie somewhere? Have you guys noticed that? I thought it was awesome. In a way it made me want to live in a place like that. Anyway, I agree. IT ROCKED!! Quote
DisRuptive1 Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 There's nothing wrong with him making cameos, although I've never seen unbreakable and that reminds me I have to rewatch The Sixth Sense to see him in there. The acting wasn't bad. How can acting be bad if everyone was doing the same thing and talking funny like "Oh Paul Wiggen, look over here at me" or whatever. And the new characters that appeared near the end of the movie didn't act bad. It was only the village people I think the acting was intended to be like it was. I thought the movie moved kind of slow and they could have gone in all sorts of directions with the movie although I doubt that M. Night Shyamalan knows how to make a proper sequel. But those druid outfits were really cool. Yellow!!! Quote

Gee thanks! Now I guess I won't see it. Quote
toto Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 Those outfits were cool. I wish I had one. They should sell them as halloween coustumes or something! Quote
Franken Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 I don't doubt that they will be selling those for Halloween. Just another way for M Night to make money. Quote

In "The Sixth Sense" he's the doctor who implies that the mother is abusing the kid, and in "Unbreakable" he's a drug dealer Bruce Willis stops to search at a game.Edit: In "Signs" he is of course the guy who ran over Mel Gibson's wife. Enough to last him as long as he wanted. all the more reason to keep making MORE money...wonderful world of capitalism...you have the ability to make money legally, no one around to stop you....he starts sucking in his movies, he loses money....why should anyone have the ability to say to him "ok, you've had your share...now let some other kids on the playground have a chance"...rofl Quote
Winnie G Posted August 15, 2004 Author Report Posted August 15, 2004 He is good at what he does and that is good enough for my movie dollar, Ill keep going. Entertainment worth paying for. Quote
Matt Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 Ah, heck. Here's me a British Socialist defending the Capitalistic way of life! If he can make money, he'll spend it, or invest it. Either way he helps oil societies' wheels. Quote
Franken Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 He should donate the money instead or something like that. We should send some missionaries over to his house =] lol Quote
Guest estump Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 The funny thing is that the director is always in the movie somewhere? Have you guys noticed that? __________________________________________________________________________________________ He's pulling the Alfred Hitchcock trick. Alfred did the same w/ films as well. M. Night Shyamalan reminds me so much of Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock is my favorite movie director of all time...I haven't seen this film yet, but I will because I'm always imporessed w/ the great similarities between the two directors. I think he must have watched Hitchcock movies his whole life and then just took it up to the fourth power when he started making his own films. Quote
Winnie G Posted August 17, 2004 Author Report Posted August 17, 2004 Alfred Hitchcock was always a walk though. this guy can act. Dubble the bang for your buck. Quote
