What was the promlems with Mormons&Blacks in the 1800's?

Not that two wrongs make a right but I don't recall any LDS seeking out heretics and burning them at the stake, beheadings, etc. As has been posted earlier there are still many churches that practice segregation in the US. The LDS church did not prevent anyone from being baptized. The Lord through the LDS church still does not allow women to hold the priesthood.

Might I ask why?
