I seriously have never thought that there is a difference in what type of detergent you use. I have tried a few different kinds and have never noticed anything but my clothes being clean. Is there really a difference or is it all advertising hoodoo? I typically use liquid stuff, not sure why. I had to start buying my own a couple years ago seeing as I became single. Never put much thought into it though.

I personally like the "smell good" ones. I usually prefer liquid, because it does not tend to leave a residue. But I have discovered that if I use a less amount of the powder variety, they are fine. I will open every choice of detergent and fabric softener before I buy it, usually based on smell.;)

I use liquid Tide from my whites and Gain for colors. Strange I know, but to me, Tide seems to keep my whites brighter. Because I have a water softner I use less liquid that is called for. One time I used to much and I had soap bubbles everywhere. Learned my lesson.
