The original Battlestar Galactica from 1978 was written by a Mormon, Glen Larson. he incorporated a lot of LDS elements into the story. For example, the Quorum of 12 in LDS refers to the 12 Apostles, while in BSG they represented the governing body of the 12 colonies. It wasn't subliminal, just borrowed elements.The new Battlestar Galactica has very little of the original in it, using most of the common terminology but Mr. Larson himself isn't involved in it.
