garethbrock
Hi, Can anyone recommend any ways of storing quotes, poems etc. I used to use index cards but this is too time consuming. Does anyone have the skills to build some software?
Truegrits
I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for...but I store all my Church talks, poems, quotes, stories...etc, on "Word"...In fact, I gave a talk this past Sunday, and all I had to do was print out one of my talks stored on my Word document... garethbrock
Hi Truegrits, I'm looking for a way of sorting them into subjects, sources etc. So if I do a talk on the Word of Wisdom then I can search/look up all my quotes etc to do with the topic. It is more about a way of sorting and storing them. Thanks
Wingnut
I used to copy them into a notebook, but not anymore. If you're familiar with MS Access, you could build a database to store them individually and could probably even 'tag' them, too, by topic. Moksha
I have heard of some using the windows address book for this function. A simple data base should work. I once used an old DOS program called Tornado for that very purpose.
tubaloth
I thought of building a program for this (Sense I'm a computer programer) It would have the Alphabet and then you can add any sub topics under it. Then it would just have a word page (text pad type thing) and you put any quotes about it in that section. It would need a database and that kind of made it a little more complicated which is probably why I never did it. But I might try it again in Java sense I have been working in that lately. I use to just paste them in Word. You could set up more of some folder files and stuff on your hard drive. Mean have a folder of Quotes (ANother one for Poems, and so on). then In that you could either have a word document for each Subject (like Atonement, Word of Wisdom) and do it that way. That way you only have documents for the actually quotes. It wouldn't be that hard to use, You could back it up really easy to a CD (just copy it over) And it would get the job done? newlight
Question......would this be only for text? or should we include pictures, video and audio? We could have something for online resources also.....Nothing but links to varios sites. Remember the more stuff we add the more space you will need on your personal hard drive.
