Maureen Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 When Wright was told that the mutation was characteristic of Jewish people, she recalled a magazine article about the secret Jews of New Mexico. It was well known that during the late Middle Ages the Jews of Spain were forced to convert to Catholicism. According to a considerable body of scholarship, some of the conversos maintained their faith in secret. After Judaism was outlawed in Spain in 1492 and Jews were expelled, some of those who stayed took their beliefs further underground. The exiles went as far as the New World.I don't think that's the timeline of the BofM.M. Quote

It cannot be proven one way or the other, the fact is this establishes Hebrew blood amoung Native Americans. Whether before or after Europeans landed, one can only guess. Quote

jjrogers Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 dang and I was hoping this was a place I could put telling my BIL and SIL not to buy a house 19 months ago in Mesa Arizona because home prices were coming down. (They ignored me and bought a house they couldn't affor and are paying 1600 a month on an interest only loan.) Oh and the house is now worth 40,000 less than what they paid for it. I was suprised that 1 in 100 carry that gene. It would be interesting to see how much of central american and south america have this gene. Quote

Hallelujah!I never got that saying....how is it possible to not have your pie and eat it?Logic says that one must first attain pie, before they can possibly eat it....It's like saying, you can't own your car and drive it too. checkerboy Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 The saying is actually have your cake and eat it too. Basically it means you can't have a beautifully decorated cake that you can keep to admire and also eat it at the same time. One or the other. Quote

Wingnut Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 I thought it had to do with the "I'll cut it and you choose your piece" thing. But even that didn't quite add up. Checkerboy's explanation makes sense to me, though. Thank goodness for digital photography! (I'm not the only one who takes pictures of great meals or desserts I make, am I?) Quote
