RachelleDrew
There is a big difference between someone with a food storage and someone who is a habitual hoarder whose got every corner of their home stuffed with rotting food that is bringing pests into the neighborhood. The difference is pretty obvious to see. I would hope so anyway.

I would hope so anyway.EO #10998--Federal seizure of all food supplies and resources, public and private and all farms and equipment; "HAWAII REVISED STATUTES REVISED 1997, Title 10:(1) Prevention of *hoarding, waste, etc. To the extent necessary to prevent hoarding, waste, or destruction of materials, supplies, commodities, accommodations, facilities, and services, to effectuate equitable distribution thereof, or to establish priorities therein as the public welfare may require, to investigate, and any other law to the contrary notwithstanding, to regulate or prohibit, by means of licensing, rationing, or otherwise, the storage, transportation, use, possession, maintenance, furnishing, sale, or distribution thereof, and any business or any transaction related thereto."These laws give the government authority to say you have too much and seize it under the guise of spreading it around to those who didn't prepare. Guest DeborahC
That is not the type of "hoarding" that this law addresses, in my opinion. This is the government's option to decide arbitrarily, 'Hey! You have A WHOLE YEAR's SUPPLY OF FOOD IN THERE?~! That's TOO MUCH!"... and then confiscate it or break into your home under the guise of "checking it out." Dangerous, in my opinion... deseretgov
I have two guns that say the police don't come and take my food storage away. Either that or they say that we're all dead before they take the food storage away.
ADoyle90815
I think that law is mostly to deal with those who have compulsive hoarding, which is a form of OCD. Compulsive hoarding - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This is more than just having extra food and other preparedness items around.
