MikeUpton Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I'm looking for book recommendations by general authorities of the church. If any can think of some that have been recommended, they can be on a gospel topic, but not limited to, I'm looking more for books of a secular nature, (I know the Book of Mormon has been recommended hehe) Thanks :) Quote
Honor Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 The Infinite Atonement by Tad R. Callister - He's in the Second Quorum of the Seventy.I know you weren't probably looking for books WRITTEN by GA's, but it's a great one. What about President Monson's use of Great Expectations in the last CES fireside? Quote
BenRaines Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 President Hinkley would always recommend the classics. Scriptures and classics. Ben Raines Quote
Guest tomk Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Truth and Wisdom is not the exclusive domain of General Authorities. Many religions contain valuable insights and truths, many of which match our own. Here is a list of books I've read the past few years which have brought peace, light and knowledge:Each link on the site I'm giving is hyperlinked to amazon.com or some suitable retailer for your convenience. Not Left Comfortless: Books I've Read Quote

tubaloth Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 A book that seems to get overlooked is Bruce R. McConkie's “A New Witness for the Articles of Faith”. It was written up and until he past away (I don't think he ever saw it published). You can kind of tell that McConkie is trying to leave this world with one last testimony. A very good book for anybody! Quote
MikeUpton Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 · Hidden Hidden i saw a reference to a book on conspiracy theories recommended by Ezra Taft Benson, "None Dare Call it Conspiracy" by Gary Allen, available here (apparently an opensource book now?) Internet Archive: Details: None Dare Call It Conspiracyrecommended here: I've been reading it, its pretty interesting.
