Its been awhile since I have posted this and I thought it was time. Sometimes we get caught up with questions about our leaders and why they do this or why they do that....or how come they don't think about this. Its always easy to complain. Anyway....I found this a few years ago it was posted in the "Dear Abby" column...enjoy reading it

Dear Abby,

One of the toughest tasks a church faces is choosing a good minister. A member of an official board undergoing this painful process finally lost patience. He'd watched the Pastoral Relations Committee reject applicant after applicant for some fault, alleged orotherwise. It was time for a bit of soul-searching on the part of thecommittee. So he stood up and read a letter purporting to be from another applicant.

"Gentleman: Understanding your pulpit is vacant, I should like to apply for the position. I have many qualifications. I've been a preacher with much success and also have had some success as a writer. Some say I'm a good organizer. I've been a leader most places I've been.

I'm over 50 years of age. I have never preached in one place for more than 3 years. In some places I have left town after my work caused riots and disturbances. I must admit I have been in jail three or four times, but not because of any real wrongdoing.

"My health is not too good, though I still get a great deal done. The churches I have preached in have been small, though located in several large cities.

I've not gotten along well with religious leaders in towns where I have preached. In fact some have threatened me and even attacked me physically. I am not too good at keeping records. I have been known to forget whom I have baptized.

However if you can use me, I shall do my best for you.

The Board member looked over the committee, Well, what do you think? Shall we call him?

The church folks were aghast, Call an unhealthy, trouble making, absent minded, ex-jailbird? Was the board member crazy? Who signed the application? Who had such colossal nerve?

The Board member eyed them all keenly before he answered.

Its signed, the Apostle Paul.

one thing the troubles in my branch have taught me is even the Bishop or Branch Presidents 'bad' decisions are part of the Lord's plan, if we sustain him we get to see the wisdom in it. Admittedly my current Branch and Stake Presidents make the sustaining bit easy, just hope I can do it with ones I find more difficult when I get them again.

Like a very dear and wise friend taught me when I asked her how she could have missionaries that drove her up the wall in her home every week. She said the Lord placed them here in our area for a reason, whilst they may bug her there might be another person whom they are the missionary, and that there teachings were having an eternal effect on, for her the irritation was merely mortal.

After I was released I was called to serve in our Stake as the Stake Young Mens president. I worked with a councilor in the Stake Presidency that I knew going into this I was going to have a rough time working with him. You know the type...straight faced...serious about everything...well....I like to laugh and be serious and still laugh some more...we did clash...I had a rough year....a few months ago I was released and called to serve on the High Council, again, and I did not have to work directly with this councilor now.

I have been on the council now for a few months and the Stake Presidents first Councilor was released 2 weeks ago and the one I have been talking about is now the First Councilor. I know I will have to work him again.....GGGGrrrrrr......patience....patience and more patience...:)

funny lol I have had an idea, when my husband gets on my nerves I find all I need to remember he's great is to write down the things about him I appreciate, and to pray for help to concerntrate on them. Wonder if it works with Bishop's lol

Seriously though we had an RS President who really didn't too great in the calling first time round, in hindsight that was down to everyone in RS. When we pulled together she was recalled and I did struggle saying I would sustain but she has been fantastic, but I think that its my attitude thats changed not anyone elses.
