lds9999 Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 I think I once saw a statistic on this in the last few years but cannot remember where (or what the statistic was.) Does anyone know approximately what percentage of LDS members are converts to the Church? Thanks! Quote

Dr T Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 That would be an interesting stat. I wonder what they "convert from too" and how much they are actually converting? What I mean is "Someone might say I changed from Baptist to LDS" but I'd wonder how invovled and how much they really understood of the Baptist faith or if they just went there as a child and didn't really understand what the Baptist faith actually taught? Traveler Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 When I was growing up in Provo, Utah in the 60's I attended a stake conference where a person giving a talk asked all the converts to please stand. The numbers were quite small compared to those not standing (5% – 10%). It is interesting that I was attending a Stake conference not too long ago in the SLC area when the speaker asked the same things - well over 50%stood. When I was in Taiwan I did not meet anyone at church that was not a convert (90% under 2 years) – same when I was in Mexico. As I have traveled throughout the USA (outside of Utah) the convert ratio seems to be about 90% converts to converts. The Traveler Quote
