shanstress70 Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 Hi Pushka, Not sure if you guys have Weight Watchers there... probably do since Fergie was their spokesperson and all. :) This is the only program that my doctor recommends and I'm having success on it. I will stay on this program for the rest of my life because I'm tired of the yo-yo thing. I go in once a week and weigh, and they record it. This way it is never a surprise and it doesn't get away from me. And once I get to my goal weight I will become a FREE lifetime member. I also belong to an awesome gym. I'm working with a personal trainer there who shows me exactly what I need to do. I purchased a set number of consultations and only have one left, so pretty soon I'm on my own. I wish I could work with her every week, but it's EXPENSIVE. I'm doing this customized workout one day a week that kicks my butt, circuit training one day, a yoga/tai chi/pilates class one day, and 40 minutes of cardio (eliptical, bike, treadmill) two days a week. Yes, I'm devoting a considerable amount of money and time to this, but I realized that this is what I need to do in order to keep my weight in check AND to just be in general good health. I'm one of the unlucky with a low metabolism, which is not a good match with my love for food! Good luck to all those who struggle (like me) getting through the holidays without gaining much! Quote

Gwen Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 www.oprah.com, healthy holiday secrets form dr ozhe is a medical dr who puts things into words the rest of us can understand, but he brings the organs and things (a good one and a bad one) for you to see what you do to your body. made an impression on me. lol haven't tried it yet, but it makes since when he says it and is in line with everything else i've ever heard, just more convincing. pushka Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 Hi Shan, We do have WW in the UK and I did attend there once for a few weeks, back in the early 2000's. I must admit that I found the weekly weigh in, in front of other people, humiliating...I know that they can't see the weight you're at, but they might over hear the comments that you've gained a little and such, and this was just too much for me to bear at the time...I was soo self conscious about it... Anyway, you might well have persuaded me to give it another go...especially if I can get to the gym after the New Year...I'll see how my body feels a couple of weeks after my surgery next Wednesday, and let you know if I get to the gym...I loved it when I used to go before, so it's just having the motivation to start going and the lack of health problems to prevent me going that I need now!! Good luck to you Shan, and to everyone else trying out there! :) Quote
StrawberryFields Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 I once went to a massage therapist who told me that many times weight can be lost my no longer carrying other people or their problems. At first I was confused, and she said, Well what is weight"? I said "Something heavy that weighs us down...makes it hard to do certain things". She said "Exactly"! Quote
