mlbrowninwa Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Just thought I would share with everyone that I went to my first service in over a year today. I am having my 3rd meeting with the missionaries this week and have a tentative date of June the 20th to be baptized. Today was the first time i've stayed for all three meetings and really liked the class on gospel principals. Everyone is so friendly and it just felt like i was at home. Hope everyone else had a great Sunday as well. Quote

Karen Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 So excited to hear about this journey! How did your initial interest in the Church begin? Love to know more. Also, if you have a photo of your baptism that you are willing to share, when that all happens, would love to see that. What are you learning in gospel principles? I just drank in the plan of salvation--never knew my purpose before this life...until I found the gospel. You are truly on the right path! Will pray for your continued progress and joy! Take special care, K Quote
Misshalfway Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Well, that sounds like happiness to me. Congrats. Quote
mlbrowninwa Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 So excited to hear about this journey! How did your initial interest in the Church begin? My journey began several years ago when i was discussing trying to find new church with a new friend of my wife. Our two families were out at a picnic on the fourth of July. They had a large family and while we were talking I asked him where his family went. He told me they were members of the LDS church and asked if I would like to learn more about it. I of course kindof shied away, but did except a copy of the BOM from him. The BOM ended up setting in my room for over a year until one day while cleaning or something I picked it up and started reading. This went on for a few more years and our family was moved to Omaha,NE and then two years ago to Vancouver,WA. We still talk to our friends in VA at times and he always asks me how things are going. Next time we talk I will finally have something to tell him about. My answer was received while reading the bible in the book of John. It just hit me all at once that I was at the right place and this was the true church. I haven't looked back since. I still have so much to learn, but I know that I am now on the right path. Several things i think had to happen first before it was revealed to me. April 1st I quit smoking and started reading the scriptures daily. I also started making a point of praying daily. When i made the commitment to find the answer, the answer was given. Quote
marshac Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Thanks for sharing! You and I are in the same mission- just out of curiosity, what are the names of your companions? Was elder Kemp one of them? If so- say hi for me :) Quote
