Dr T Posted January 21, 2011 Author Report Posted January 21, 2011 Take him camping and show him to leave the site cleaner than he found it when he arrived there. Quote
Guest Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 Be prepared with your testimony at all times. You will find that your son will ask questions like, "How do I know that God is calling me?" when you least expect it. (I had this experience with my 7-year-old son while we were driving home from MMA class and I was stressed out trying to get home on time to make dinner while trying to remember what I have at home that I can easily whip up, all the while trying to navigate bumper to bumper freeway traffic with big trucks and suv's cutting me off every quarter mile). Dr T Posted January 21, 2011 Author Report Posted January 21, 2011 Thanks for that Anatess (I almost left it as Ana). That's how life is; you're right! Quote

Guest Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Pick out "your star" at night so that you can always have that connection even when he decides to move half-way around the world. Quote
Guest Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Bake him a cake for his birthday. Packaged cake mix is fine, but from scratch is preferable. It makes the day special for both of you. It doesn't have to taste or look great - it's the gesture that counts. You don't have to serve the cake at his birthday party - you can just buy a cake for that. Quote
Dr T Posted January 24, 2011 Author Report Posted January 24, 2011 Make sure to give him time for learning to "sink in" for him. Get confirmation from him that he understands before moving on. Quote
Dr T Posted January 29, 2011 Author Report Posted January 29, 2011 It has been shown over and over that children value enjoyable activies even more if they have to work in order to get them. I recommend doing this for them. Quote
