MrsAri Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Elder McConkie counseled to avoid fanaticism and to stay in the main stream of the church. You mean, we should be unique, just like everyone else? lol Quote
Maya Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 One thing I noticed is that it is ok to wonder and ask, but some people just cant take the answer ... not yet. They want to know it all and know it NOW! With patience you learn a lot more. Impatient people tend to go astray as they want it all NOW. They make easier wrong assumptions as they do not have enough knowledge to know all the truth. Thus they easier also accept the antimaterials, as they do not have the whole truth in them. Quote
Hemidakota Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 I am big fan of Elder McConkie and listen to his talks often and read his many works that have had such a grand influence on the church and church members. Have you read the biography written by his son, Joseph Fielding McConkie? (The Bruce McConkie Story) Really a warmly written book. Elder McConkie counseled to avoid fanaticism and to stay in the main stream of the church.I haven't... Quote

I am finding it interesting in my own process that sometimes God is just inviting me to obey....not really answering my questions which is somewhat frustrating and confusing. I am comforted that I hear the voice and feel that He is involved with me. Sometimes I think that is because he is requiring my faith or maybe He is just saying "the truth is over there. I'll show you once we get there or you'll understand once you see from that new vantage point." I worry a bit when I see in my self in others that little obstinance that says "well, I don't feel any answers or when some fight against exercizing faith. Hemidakota Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Have you ever asked with sincerity for an answer and it was granted that night? Quote
