ruthiechan Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Is there a difference between the LDS 1979 published edition of the Bible and the current one? I am using the ol' 1979 version, but I don't know if the footnotes have changed since then or any other possible differences. Quote
Maureen Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 The current editon of the BofM was done in 1981. I would think that any footnotes in an LDS 1979 edition of the KJV would have to be updated. Quote
Wingnut Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I believe there are also newer photos and maps. Quote

ruthiechan Posted January 7, 2010 Author Report Posted January 7, 2010 Thanks everyone! Does anyone know if there was any of the Joseph Smith Translation added? Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 It seems to me (I can't back this up, though) that when the LDS Bible was published in 1979 the new Triple project was already underway. I can't believe they'd have published a new edition of the Bible knowing they'd have to completely re-do the footnotes in less than two years; it makes sense that whatever came out in 1979 is what we're still using (except for the new maps and the photo inserts Wingnut mentions). Excerpts of the JST were added in 1979, as footnotes (with some lengthier extracts added as an appendix). I doubt that's changed, either - the 1979 edition was released after Robert Matthews had completed his survey of the RLDS-held JST manuscript and found it reliable, and I don't think anything has come forward to alter that conclusion over the last thirty years.
