Bini Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 I work in the medical field and agree that vaccinations are vital. It is especially important for those that work in hospitals, rehabs and units to be vaccinated because of close quarters and hands-on patient care. Quote
lost87 Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 For clinical rotations at a local hospital we were all required to get the seasonal flu shot because many of our patients, like nikki said are immuno-compromised. However, there are some people who absolutely cannot get the flu shot....like people who are allergic to eggs for example. Every hospital is required to provide an alternative for such people who provide written documentation from a health care provider. In the hospital that I do clinicals at's case (wow, that was convoluted) anyone who does not get a flu shot for whatever reason is required to where a face mask any time they are in the hospital, not just in patients rooms, but even just roaming the halls between shifts etc. Quote
Nikkie85 Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Everyone here is so quick to judge this woman for trying to push the rules and get away with something. Why is nobody considering the possibility that she is just lazy or forgetful?Maybe she miscalculated the number of days or remembered the deadline incorrectly?Or, maybe she went home everyday saying, "Oh shoot! I forgot to get that test! Oh well, I'll do it tomorrow."Seriously, y'all, why does everybody assume there is foul play involved?Do y'all really have that bleak an opinion of people? This might sound mean but this makes me think the lady was more deserving to lose her job. I mean I could see her forgetting maybe a day or two but for thirty days? If she could not remember to call her doctor and get a note than she is probably not the best person to work in health care. She was on vacation long enough to see a doctor. Quote
Palerider Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 She was suspended for 30 days unless she brought it a Dr's note, then she would have been reinstated. However, she thought she was being cute by coming in with one on the 31st day. Only to find out the system bit her back. Quote
