Spirits have mouths and ears, hands and feet and all the apparent parts that our physical body has. We learn that from the encounter that the brother of Jared had with the Lord, when Christ revealed himself to Mahonri before his actual birth into mortality.

How else did we, as pre-mortal spirits, "shout for joy" when the plan of salvation was presented to us, as the Lord taught Job (Job 38:7). How did hevenly messengers appear to people and transmit any message to them at all before Christ's resurrection, who was the first to be resurrected on this Earth? How does Satan transform himself into an angel of light, and persuade men to form secret combinations and murders, if he cannot speak to them?

The same way that we communicated with eachother in the pre-mortal spirit world, spirit to spirit, is how he "wispers" his temptations to our spirits, who are clothed in physical bodies of flesh and blood. It doesn't seem like such a difficult thing to accept.

And he's not alone. A former third of the host of heaven assist him in his quest for our misery. So, he can really cover some serious ground among mortals, who only have a fraction present temporally at any given time.

He's had time to know us from the eternities we all spent together in the pre-mortal existence, as brothers, and even if he doesn't know me personally, he knows enough about our weaknesses, collectively speaking, being one of us, that he can be quite effective. He seeks to make us "miserable like unto himself" (2 Ne. 2:27).
