Law Of Consecration

How many of you can say they could live that law?

I could say yes, but I think I have a better understanding of that request because I have known families that lived in a communal life style and seen it work.

Large land with serpent family homes with large gardens orchards live stock and buildings for production such as canning and smoke house.

This was not that usual for the 60’s -70’s the time I was raised.

I know it can work if only the right-minded people work well together.

It was the NOT RIGHT MINDED people wrecked it last time. Zion must be made up of right minded people. The rest should be cast out.

As you can see, I believe it is not only a great thing to live, but I live it with my own family already. Those who don't want to live it, usually don't prosper.

If people were perfect, it would work!

study the law of consecration and I do believe you will find it doesn't sound like communism....big difference...

That's true...

Communism (under satan) is the opposite extreme of The United Order (under Jesus)...not to be confused with the New World Order (as per "read my lips" George Bush Sr.), or "one world government" (re socialism/communism).

Thanks, Palerider.

Basically, the law of consecration is what naturally occurs in a Zion society (Zion = pure in heart), where Christ reigns. I don't believe there would need to be any enforcing of it. Everyone would freely give of their surplus to help those in need. Nobody would have 17 sports cars, 6 yachts, etc. Likewise, nobody would be lazy just waiting for their handout, for they too would be "pure in heart" and in their motives. There would be no selfishness on either the giving or receiving end.

Does the general concept appear to be like communism on the surface? Perhaps. But as Pale points out, there are several key differences that only study can reveal. One of the biggest is that when the natural man tries to administer such a program it will always fail. Only under Christ's rule in a state of Zion can such a program be truly successful and last.

All talents come in to play under the law of consecration.

As human beings, we do not always see our selves as others see us.

We look outwardly and some of us do not see our own talents.

Long story but worth reading:

I received a card this Dec with news clipping in it the other day.

The article was about women we know in a ward back east.

Others saw her as a winning complaining slightly mentally handicapped sister who was more of a pain then an asset to the ward and not worth their time. Her handicap left her skin rattled with fibroses tumors. People found it hard to be with her.

An elder in that aria came to us one day and called us to repentance for words we had uttered now and then about this sister and asked us to be her friend and drive her to church on Sundays with happy harts not begrudgingly.

(I nicknamed her sister sunshine)

Feeling well chastised we did as we were asked. Now I am not saying this friendship was easy it took a lot at first not to just give up because it would be easier for us.

We were surprised as time passed we witness the old Debbie (not her real name) melt away and a kind dear friend appear. Our bishop at that time had little time for Debbie and she was always passed over for Temple prep classes witch hurt her greatly. We spent hours working on her ancestral file to have it ready for when the new Temple in our aria opened. We had move to a different ward by then but we stayed in contact. We would bring her on our ward youth days to do baptisms when the Temple opend. She longed to take out her endowments but she always fell though the cracks do to the indifference of others. Our Bishop in our ward asked the stake leaders to speak to the temple presidency about Debbie and my husband was asked to one on one to teach her the temple prep class in her home. She received her endowments one weekend and the indifference of the sisters from her ward that were there that day was shameful but myself and another sister that prepare her Temple cloths leading up to that made a big enough fuss to keep looks and remarks out of ear shot so her day stayed special. She felt more of my ward then her own and we live over a hour away by then, the youth just loved her and that made a big difference.

The newspaper article was about Debbie that after asking if she could have a garbage bag of full of yarn that was left at her church she knitted 100’s of hats and scarves for the homeless and was named Maritimeer of the week and given a certificate and noticed by the governor general. It’s a grate public honor.

I’m so happy for her and honored to be her friend.

So you see every one counts under the law of consecration.

When we are asked to live the law I will be found looking for yarn to bring to Debbie.

Prosper in what way?

Spiritually. And then-- after seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all else will be added.

Prend1

Do I hear yah, depression on so many levels stinks. Big Huge

Fitting in, believe it or not is their problem, you be who you are and if they don’t like it is their loses. I’m the type of person that those who seem to fall in to the cracks now I latch on too. Be your self.

Years ago a visiting teacher dragged me kicking and screaming mind you to a super Saturday craft thing.

I saw my self as talent less on all levels.

I know my parenting skills sucked my house keeping could have used a backhoe my marriage was so bad I could not see myself past another year let alone the five more I suffered though.

But that day out of her bag she handed me a new hot glue gun and sat with me and took the time to teach me.

I came home high and I saw myself in a different light.

I had Talent! Winnie had Talent!

I don’t think your born with talent as much as it is taught to you.

One Christmas left on my door step was a small box of gifts for me in that box was how to books on every thing and one was called The Family Help Book Two, it was written by two sisters in the church and it had every thing in it including 101 steps to better house keeping things your family can do on Sunday, de-clutter and how to discipline with love, building self-esteem. It saved my life and sanity.

My kids use to tease me and make fun of Maratha Stewart (I watched her)and even gave me a huge sewing box once calling it mom’s Martha Stewart tackle box.

Now every time they give me a hard time as adults when they visit. I say you want Kraft dinner tonight and the rest of the week?

“No Mom your right we owe a lot to Maratha”.

Prend1 when my first child was born, I had to read the side of the pamper box (they came in boxes back then) to know how to dipper my son.

Hang in there, the gray will clear. You can write me any time.

My arthritis in my knees has flared up and slowed me right down, so I have time on my hands, today besides posting today I read a Ensign Magazine from cover to cover. It kept my mind off the pain and helped me get though the day with out dragging myself down.

BIG Hug

you seem to think everyone has a talent. sorry if i seem harsh but i just don't fit into lds society. I can barely take care of my own self much less give. you can't give what you don't have. depression sux!

Whoever said that motherhood isn't a talent?!

Never underestimate the power of YOU! You are a unique individual created by Heavenly Father. You are a priceless daughter of God. There isn't another you on this earth, and no one can take your place or fill your shoes.

You are in partnership with your Heavenly Father who has entrusted you with His children to love and care for.

If you are raising children, you are fulfilling your calling, and you fit into LDS society by virtue of that fact. :)

Remember, if your cup is empty, you have nothing to give. When it's empty, it is time to fill it. When it's filled, then you can give...but don't give until it's empty...always keep it half full just for you!

If you are doing the very best you can, you have achieved perfection.

Thank you all for your kind words. Unfortuately not everyone feels that way and I cannot tell you the hell I get from "members of the church." I put that in quotes bc it makes me wonder.....

But thx again. Guilt is an issue for me and I feel that if that were reinstated today I could not live it right now. And it makes me feel better to know that I necessarily wouldn't have to just yet.

One of my dear friends is a psychologist. Just recently, she told me that she has a number of LDS clients who feel just as you do. If you don't fit in the ward, you are shamed, guilt tripped, rejected, and ostracized. It's a shame that LDS society is so dysfunctional, but it is generational. Perhaps this old mindset will fall away with more converts coming into the Church who aren't so judgmental. But what you are experiencing is one of the reasons Mormon women are on Prozac. If the sisters do not accept you for who you are, tell them to get a life and get out of yours. It's no wonder we're not ready to live the law of consecration. ;-)

For the record, my friend does not discuss her cases with me, even though I worked as her secretary. This information is general knowledge from various sources.
