Lindy Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 I have had some serious problems with my prayers (or the lack of them) for a little while now... I'm not blaming anyone but myself .... quite frankly I was just afraid of any answers I might have received. Tonight, I really prayed for the first time in a long time for myself. And something I had been told in prayer months ago was reaffirmed to me... it doesn't make a lot of sense to doubt the word of God, or the promptings of the Spirit. So, I just accept the promptings as they come and deal with it .......... :)And I got out of my cozy warm bed and went back into the cold living room to turn on the computer and go to the Church site and read what I needed to read...... And HOLY COW..... It was like "This Is Your Life" and everything I have gone thru being addressed by the First Presidency. (not in the stories told...but in things that were said) So, knowing that so many go through times and trials in life..... LDS or NON LDS..... I wanted to share this with you, because it made a big impression on how I look at my life, and things I have learned along the way.First Presidency MessageRefined in Our TrialsEnsign, February 2006By President James E. Josie Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Thank you Lindy. It was nice for you to allow us to share in your experience. I have had some taste of what you experienced this week also with two talks for last Oct Conference. I have read or listened to them about 1/2 dozen times each this week and it was just like they were given especially for me and answered many questions that I had had for some time. Quote
StrawberryFields Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 It was great to get some perspective about what some peoples trials are really like. Thanks for being the messanger and my friend...Love Ya Sis. Quote
begood2 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Lindy, That post contained a powerful message on how we face our trials of life. Thank You for sharing. :) Quote
mom_of_jcchlsm Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 The first hymn I memorized after joining the Church was "How Firm a Foundation." I learned all 7 verses. I particularly like verses 4 and 5 which deal with trials. You'll laugh at what trial I needed that song for -- I would chant the whole song over and over to myself while running for my fitness quallification when I served in the Air Force. But I have heard those word echo in my mind a hundred times since then to comfort me through much tougher trials. A scripture, a hymn, or the words of a prophet -- having it in your mind to hold you through really makes a difference! Quote
Guest Syble Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Hey Lindy, This is one of the best talks I have read on the subject of rebirth. Thank you. Quote
