Milluw Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 I will soon be moving to a smaller apartment than the one i already have, the one i am now moving too is similar to this: Fjordvej 46And after figuring out that i have to throw about 80% of what i own away to fit it in there, i just remembered that there also has to be room for foodstorage! So im looking for some ideas in here. How do you store your food? And do you have some tips? Quote
bl8tant Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 It depends. If you're storing food for one person, you can buy lots of small (8-16oz) cans and put them into various places. For example, I think IKEA sells blocks that you can use to raise many of their beds; put one in each corner and you'll get an extra few square meters of space. Even if you can't store a year's supply, I encourage you to store whatever you can. Good luck! Quote
Milluw Posted September 25, 2010 Author Report Posted September 25, 2010 Oh yeah, i probably should say that i am just one person! :) Yeah, i've heard alot of people recommend IKEA. Never heard of thoose blocks though, sounds clever. Quote
MsMagnolia Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 My mom uses plastic tubs with wheels about 5 inches high filled with cans to slid under her couch. I have also seen people make end tables out of food storage. they just cover it with a prety cloth. Hope these help, Mags Quote
Milluw Posted September 25, 2010 Author Report Posted September 25, 2010 MsMagnolia: Do you mean making a whole table of food storage? Don't know what you mean with the end table :) (My english fails me sometimes, hehe). And yeah, i've seen those bedrollers around, they're actually pretty affordable and often on sale. ^.^ Thought about buying thoose. Pam: That is cool O_O hm, do you know if it matters if its on a carpet or on a wooden floor? If it will be harsh on it, slide or whatever. Quote
pam Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 End table would be a table that you would put at the end of a couch for example.I think you can get risers made out of a hard plastic that would work on either carpet or wood floor. With the weight of the bed, I don't think you would have to worry about them sliding. Quote
pam Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 MsMagnolia was talking about stacking your food storage and making a table out of it and covering with a table cloth. To look something like this: Quote
Milluw Posted September 26, 2010 Author Report Posted September 26, 2010 Ohh like that! Thats a cool idea Quote
pam Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Cans can make wonderful decor too: Quote
Wingnut Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Pam: That is cool O_O hm, do you know if it matters if its on a carpet or on a wooden floor? If it will be harsh on it, slide or whatever.I used to have risers like that for a twin bed in the guest room. We have them on hardwood floors, and we just put felt tabs on the bottom so they wouldn't scratch. Quote
