My wife and I are out in the DC area on a consulting assignment and are taking the opportunity to attend the CPAC conference this weekend. Anyone else out there planning to attend?

I'll provide some very biased and politically distorted updates on some of the conference highlights within this thread. :)

*Disclaimer* - I am a staunch Ron Paul supporter and I'm sure I'll have some pretty positive feedback to share from both Rand's and Ron's speeches.

May the Liberty movement continue to roll forth despite what members of Congress on BOTH sides of the isle are doing to squash it.

I love Ron Paul!!! I was hoping to make it to CPAC this year, but circumstances just didn't allow it. I was able to watch Ron and Rand's speeches, which were both very good. I loved this quote from Ron's speech, "Foreign aid is taking money from the poor people of rich countries and giving it to the rich people of poor countries." It was great to hear that Ron Paul won the straw poll again this year. The R3volution has continued to grow over the past few years. Hooray for Liberty!

Thought we weren't allowed to post anything that might come close to endorsing a candidate?

8. Do not post or upload any names of political candidates or posts that insinuate a particular candidate. Do not make post, messages, videos, or uploads in reference to political candidates. You may not use LDS.NET to endorse any candidate running for political office. You may not use LDS.Net to intervene directly or indirectly in the election process by endorsing a political candidate. Any post that speaks favorably about one candidate, even in a religious context, can be construed as indirect intervention in the election process.

It's political discussion that's been deemed as inappropriate for this forum. There are other places to for this.

Actually I'm going to go with this rule:

LDS.Net will allow political discussion, also long as all posts remain neutral with respect to partisan politics and candidate campaigns for public office. You may not use the site to show support, endorse, oppose or sanction any candidate. In addition, all posts must be respectful and sensitive to readers of all political beliefs and backgrounds. Any post that violates any of the above conditions will be dealt with according to the consequences of breaking the rules. Effective 9-24-09 political discussion has been suspended. Any threads of this nature will be closed.

This is a subject that would get extremely heated and therefore I'm cutting it off at the pass. Especially since it was mentioned in the OP it would be a very biased appraisal of what went on.
