oshinn Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 this may seem like a silly question but i am going to attend my first LDS church service this sunday, and i need to know how long they last. not for myself, but for my work, since the church is happening beforehand, and i need to know if i need to switch shifts! i have heard some people say it is 3 hours, is this for everyone or just members? or is it shorter/longer? cheers, and thank you :) Quote
Guest jengilbrat Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 3 hour s is correct, this includes one large meeting and "Sunday School" meetings as well. MEmeber and non-members are invited to attend all 3 hours. Quote
GeneC Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Sacrament meeting is one hour. Sunday School is one hour. Priesthood/Relief Society is one hour. My ward has Sacrament meeting last but other wards may vary. Quote
oshinn Posted February 18, 2011 Author Report Posted February 18, 2011 is sunday school for everyone? Quote
dahlia Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 is sunday school for everyone? You will be invited to attend 'Gospel Principles,' the class for newbies or people returning to the faith. I did this for a couple of months before baptism. Even though I had read a lot and had asked questions here, it was worth it to go to class and now it's my favorite part of Sunday (not that Sacrament Meeting isn't fine, I just am a talker and enjoy the back and forth in class). You don't have to attend the other 2 sessions if you don't want to. I didn't at first, but it grew on me. Quote
oshinn Posted February 18, 2011 Author Report Posted February 18, 2011 i would love to stay for everything! i will just have to get my schedule rearranged... if they don't laugh me out the door when i tell them i'm going to church again... we'll see :) Quote
HiJolly Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 is sunday school for everyone?Yes. We have the classes divided into the Gospel Doctrine and the Gospel Principles - you would probably be asked to go to the Gospel Principles class - but you could go to either one. If the congregation is big enough they may also have a genealogy class. HiJolly Quote
QuestionableSanity Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Seems like forever some SundaysAmen. Especially those long days spent watching some new stress relief presentation. Quote
