What do we need for a temple sealing?

My husband and I got married civilly in October 2009, and we are going to get to the temple sometime this year. Since we have already gotten married, do we need to bring a certified copy of our marriage license? Also, is there anything else that we need to bring? I did not grow up in the church, so just trying to cover all the bases.

See your Bishop. You will need a living ordinance recommend, not just your regular temple recommend. Your Bishop is where you need to start to get a living ordinance recommend.

You'll need to see your Bishop first for a recommend for a living ordinance, (not sure if you also need the Stake Presidents signature for just a sealing of a previous civil marriage -- you do need that where you are first being married). once you have that you will call the Temple and make the appointment, they will let you know what all you need.

You'll want to make sure that your civil marriage is properly recorded on your membership records. As long as this is done, when the temple pulls up your records, you shouldn't have any problems.

You won't need to bring your marriage license. It is up to your local priesthood leaders to determine if your civil marriage is valid (seems like it'd be pretty easy to me).
