Okay the auditions for deal or no deal are coming to the litlle ole state of south carolina...

my question is should my family audition?! What are the church policies on gameshows? I know your not supposed to gamble and this show seems like gambling to me. Chances are we'd never get picked anyway...but I'm curious. I know the church wont take tithing on gambled money, but is won money gambled if you didnt put any of your money in to start?! I'm interested in the responses I'll get!

I know many families that have gone and played gameshows. From Wheel of Fortune to Let's Make a Deal. Go, stand in line and have fun.

I remember reading somewhere that it is not necessary to command in all things.

I am not LDS, but it would seem to me there is a difference between gambling and a game show. I would consider a game show to be more like a contest with prizes........taxable prizes......... :tinfoil:

Have fun and let us know if you make on the telly.

When you enter a contest in which you have to pay an admission, let it be sports, arts or gameshow(which is free), you are not gambling. Cause you are in to prove a skill to win something, in the casino, we may argue that cards are a skill(and indeed are), but it invloves a vice, a conduct of trying to win as much as you can without putting the equal effort, if the Church officials tell you that it is wrong, dont listen to them. It is not wrong.

At any case, Hinckley gambled his life while going to war to fight (obviously) against his will for satanic porpuses(USA's), anyways, I would have said just as Joseph Smith concerning that issue, "Never as long as i live, will I submit humbly to the damn government of the ,masses"(my translation)(discourse delivered at navoo prior to his arrest and further death).

Wasn't there an LDS guy on Jeopardy recently? I think you're safe. If you get on, you might end up in a sermon illustration later on (topic: greed). LOL

Go for it, I met a YW president who went all the way on Lets Make a Deal when it was on the air. She did not get the big door but she said it was a blast.

My note on deal of no deal, I hate it my husband loves it I grumble all the way though it.

The show that snapped my last nerve was when the father was given a choice of the money and a pony his daughter always wanted, bring the pony in and parading it in front of his daughter in the audience. He took the deal of course.

The devil looks like Howie Mandel!

I’m sorry. I wanted to drop tick him until he sang soprano!

Now I scrapbook and grumble from the other room.
