so i lied to both my bishop & president regarding chastity.

i this confessed to my bishop & still a bit weighed down.

would calling my president(he is no longer in office)

be totally unnecessary & awkard?

"hello i want to apologize for lying to you."???

idk sounds weird to me lol

I think it's admirable you want to admit you lied, and suspect doing so will ease your mind.

What about sending each of them a letter? That way, you'd be able to take your time to compose it so that it says exactly what you want, something that is sometimes difficult to do in a face-to-face conversation.

i appreciate all of your input. but my question was

"CALL AND APOLOGIZE TO EX-STAKE PRESIDENT?, YES or NO"

Are you asking about making a phone call or are you asking about apologizing to your ex-stake president?

When I wrote "admit you lied," I thought it was understood that was why you were apologizing. Apparently, I wasn't clear about that.

Ok, let's break it down. Any released Bishop or Stake President is no longer your Judge in Israel. So talk to those who are your Judge in Israel for advice. We cannot tell you what to do, that's your decision. But we can advise you. And the advice is to talk to your current Bishop and discuss it with him, not a forum full of anonymous people.

I don't see it being necessary.

Why? Because you committed a falsehood to the judge in Israel, not the man who occupied the position. The one serving in the position is representing the Lord - just as the person who is currently serving in the position.

Now, if this was a lie that was OUTSIDE that role, then I would apologize and make it right.

Okay, I'm confused. I thought ldslostman was wanting to apologize, as opposed to confessing. Isn't there a difference?

I can see him wanting to apologize to someone for having lied, without it being necessary to go to his current bishop about it. Or, perhaps he does need to confess the lie to his bishop, and, though it's not necessary, could still apologize to his president.

Perhaps I'm reading more into this than ldslostman intended, but I do see a difference between the two.

ETA: I just re-read ldslostman's OP, and I think he's saying he already confessed this to his bishop. If so, I see nothing wrong with him also apologizing to his president. In fact, I think it admirable.

It would be completely inappropriate for you to call your former stake president and tell him you lied to him about fornicating. He is no longer your stake president, so he has no authority to hear confession and no reason (and, very probably, no desire) to know the intimate details of your sins. Talk to your current stake president.

I'm afraid i'm going to havew to agree with the majority. while it is very admirable that you want to call and apologize, it isn't necissary and most likely inapropriate. that is unless you bishop/ current stake pres. direct you to do such as part of the repentance process.
