HoosierGuy Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 One persons prayer is just as good as another persons prayer, all things being equal. Prayer is a private thing. The small ones can be just as powerful as the long prayers. We shouldn't criticize prayers but... This prayer is just too much. Along with thanking God for Ford and Toyota and a bunch of other junk, he thanks God for his "smoking hot" looking wife. NASCAR Prayer: Pastor Thanks Jesus For Engines, 'Smoking Hot Wife' Quote

RipplecutBuddha Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 Could it be he was lifting some of that from the movie Taladega Nights? Quote

RipplecutBuddha Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 I never saw the film, but the prayer seems in accordance with the tone of the film judging by the previews that I did see on television. Quote

The prayer seems to be a nod to the movie. Quote
Guest Sachi001 Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 LOL! Definitely not after the proper order of prayer. However I give thanks to the Lord for my smokin' hot wife also. Quote
Guest gopecon Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 I'm just happy that my priesthood leaders have always taken communication with Deity more seriously than this pastor apparently does. I did know a missionary who prayed for Steve Young (any members of the Church who were playing football that day) before a Super Bowl one year. Quote
Captain_Curmudgeon Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Don't recall where but I remember Jesus saying to pray in private if you want to be heard. Public prayer is for public consumption and does escape the ionosphere. Maybe it's just science. Prayers said into a microphone are converted to electricity (piezo-electric effect) and go no further than that circuit. Kolob? Forget it. Edited July 27, 2011 by Captain_Curmudgeon Quote
slamjet Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 I'm sorry, but his wife doesn't do it for me. I know, I'm shallow, but hey... Quote
