Guest FixingTheWrongs Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 I recommend running with weights, starting at a 5 pound dumbells in each hand and working up when it gets easier, depending on your level. I had to move to 15 in each hand since it started to get easy. You'll get good strength training in your core, arms and shoulders along with making the cardio more effective. Meaning you won't need to run as long(both time and distance) to get the same effects if you didn't have any weights. Quote
Guest gopecon Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 I think running is the most effective per minute (i.e. it requires the least amount of time to get aerobic benefit from), but it's also not the most pleasant for some. Biking and rollerblading are pretty effective, and they have the added benefit of getting you outdoors and seeing stuff. Machines may be effective, but I've found it easier to keep going longer when you have actual miles to travel, as opposed to minutes to spin. I'd second Skalenfal's advice - finding something that you can stick with is more important that spliting hairs over what is marginally more effective. Quote
