shanstress70 Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 I understand banning this user, as we're clearly having a problem with single users having multiple names. However, it just doesn't sit right with me to have a topic closed after the moderator (AK) gets the 'last word' on the matter. There were several people discussing that topic and you just ended it all after saying your (lengthy) piece. Perhaps you could have left it open and allowed the other non-offending posters to comment/discuss? Personally, I don't have anything to say about it, but I was finding it interesting to read both sides. That's a great way to kill good conversation. BTW, as far as I could see, this thread was not breaking any of the posted rules, or talking in specific about secret temple details. Quote
Dr T Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Hi Shan, What are you suggesting, PM warning? Public warning? Remember, moderators have a difficult job sometimes and are looking out for the best interest of the site. AK did what he felt was right. Maybe there is a protocol for this type of actions and he followed it. Maybe not? Dr. T Quote

Maybe there is a protocol for this type of actions and he followed it. Maybe not?Dr. TIf you're asking how I would have handled it...I would have banned honeybear, like AK did, but I would have left the thread open so that the discussion could continue. What would it hurt, since honeybear isn't here to discuss it anymore? At the very least, if I was going to lock the topic, I wouldn't have typed out my lengthy response before doing so. That to me looked like he was just trying to get the last word and wouldn't let anyone refute what he's saying. But no biggy... just kind of bugged me. Quote
Guest ApostleKnight Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 It would bug me too Shan, if I didn't know what happened. I should have explained. I typed my--as you say--lengthy post, and then got this suspicious feeling. Who was this HoneyBear? He/she sounded familiar. So I did some Admin IP research and lo and behold! they were a multiple user. So I edited my lengthy post and added the notice about getting rid of their user account. In the future, I'll simply erase my last reply, add the notice about closing the thread, and leave it at that. Fair enough. In fact I've removed the thread completely.update: actually I didn't remove the thread, I figured that'd tick you off too. Quote
Dr T Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Hey AK, Would you just close it and not contact the poster about it? Just curious Quote
shanstress70 Posted August 16, 2006 Author Report Posted August 16, 2006 Not trying to cause trouble, AK. No big deal, but thanks for the explanation. :) Quote
Jason Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Once again ApostleKnight, the dark horseman, has humiliated his opponent and silenced him forever. "Insert evil laugh". Quote
Guest ApostleKnight Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Dr. T: Yes, if one person has multiple accounts their account is deleted with an email explaining why. I won't close a thread without explaining that I did it and why. Shan: I know, I wasn't being sarcastic, I realize it looks like I had to get the last word in and then shut things up. I've noted your observation and will act accordingly in the future. Jason: Here's how the evil laugh would read...gwahahahahahaha, mwahahahaha...or some variation. Quote
Traveler Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 On the other thread I listed several symbols that existed in the ancient temple. Is anyone interested about or has opinions concerning those symbols? The Traveler Quote
