Forget-Me-Not Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 RewardsToday I labored in the fieldsThe sun burned bright and hotThe day was long, my back did acheRelief was what I soughtAnd then at last the work was doneMy burden was removedI sat awhile and drank my fillMy thirst at last subduedI lay to rest beside a treeAnd pondered long the dayI thought of how I'd worked so hardTo earn such little payIt all seemed futile in my eyesThe toil and daily strifeWhat of rewards? When do they comeTo gratify one's life? But peaceful calm came over meI watched the sunset passI felt the breeze upon my faceThe coolness of the grassThe moon and stars began to shineThe sky a deepened blueThe trees became a silhouetteAgainst the changing hueAnd, Ah! At last unveiledMy reward for me to seeA gift of beauty, peace, and restIs what was given me Quote

pam Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Thanks Pam. Poetry is sort of how I bare my soul I guess. I'm afraid it's not one of my talents but it is obviously yours. Quote
Forget-Me-Not Posted January 28, 2012 Author Report Posted January 28, 2012 I'm afraid it's not one of my talents but it is obviously yours.Well, my mother wrote poetry and hymns so I had that influence. I was extremely shy when I was younger so expressing my thoughts or feelings was not easy. Writing is a way for me to do so, even now. Most of my poetry is serious and sometimes tainted with sadness. Some is too personal to share but it's therapeutic too, I think. Quote
