Princess3dward Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I hope my explination of my question doesn't confuse you. If it does, just read the title and the suptitle and respond to that, because that is all that this is about. This is more curiosity to see if this was ever brought up before, but when Jesus changed the names of some of the apostles, and when expectant mothers were told what to name their babbies (Jesus and John for example), is that to make it easier for God when the people who didn't get tested come down? I know this may not make sense, but I couldn't sleep one night, and I was just wondering about that. Just one of those things! Quote
Dr T Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 The thought about "Making it easier for God" is interesting to me. Is that possible? Dr. T Quote

Maureen Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 ...and when expectant mothers were told what to name their babbies (Jesus and John for example)...IMO, I see God choosing a name as a sign of fulfilled prophecy. For John the Baptist, he was a fore-runner to the Savior introducing him to the world. John’s life’s calling is the first sign of God’s grace, with respect to a new covenant. The boy's name John is pronounced jahn. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "the Lord is gracious."For Jesus, he is our Savior and God.For this reason the sovereign master himself will give you a confirming sign. Look, this young woman is about to conceive and will give birth to a son. You, young woman, will name him Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)The boy's name Jesus is pronounced JEE-zus. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "the Lord is salvation."For more information, see also the related name Emmanuel. The boy's name Emmanuel is pronounced ee-MAN-yoo-el. It is of Latin and Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "with us is God." Variant of the Hebrew name Immanuel. Biblical: a name-title applied to the Messiah, Jesus…M. Quote
