I have decide to memorize a scripture a day and am looking for ideas of addition scriptures memorize.

If you were to add 1 scripture to the seminary scripture mastery list for Old Testament, New Testament, The Book of Mormon, and the D&C what would they be?

Also, does anyone have the old seminary scripture mastery list? I know there use to be 40 scriptures for each year of study, but this was more that 20 years ago and have been unable to find the old list.

If I were going to do such a project, I'd do it by "topic" and then find scriptures to fit into that topic.

For example, in May, you can pick the topic "Atonement". Now go to the Topical Guide and find 30 scriptures to memorize over the next month. Then pick a new topic for June, and so on.

Deseret Book has small Daily Reflections books with a daily scripture and quotes. I have three of them. One is "Stand A Little Taller" and it all quotes from President Hinckley with scriptures to go with them. Another is "Jesus the Very Thought of Thee" (by Millet and Newel). There is a new one called "When Ye Shall Receive These Things - Daily Reflections on the Book of Mormon".

The scripture for today in the 2nd one is " Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." John 6:47

I hadn't thought of memorizing the scriptures from these books but I do try to read one every day.

These books are also a great resource for preparing talks for children in Senior Primary. There is always a paragraph or two relating to the scripture for that day.

This is a scripture memorizing idea that was given to the missionaries on my mission:

MemorizationPattern:

1. Memorize it.

2. Review twice a day for a week.

3. Review once a day for a week.

4. Review twice a week for one month.

5. Review once a week for one month.

6. Review twice a month for two months.

7. Review once a month for six months.

8. Review once every six months for a year.

9. Review once a year for life.
