Sicily510 Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) For about two years I have been thinking about this question, and have not come to any good conclusion. Why does our temple recommend ask if we are just (honest in our dealings), when it appears as if it doesn't really matter, as long as we perceive we are just?It is a subjective question, by which, those who aren't just, say they are.Would appreciate any thoughts on the matter.Just, in my opinion, is spiritually discerning oneself to the ordinances and doctrines of Jesus Christ gospel in everything they do. Living in the light of Jesus Christ when giving service in fellowship, this means not being in dreadful or negative nature. Ethically discerning when working for a company, such as complying with terms of regulations to helping fellow team member and excellent customer care. Providing moral conduct caring for family members ensuring that the childrens know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through your examples of good works and deeds. I think that when one is honest in their dealings one always has Jesus Christ as the leader the foundation in making smarter and wiser solutions and decisions. Edited July 16, 2012 by Sicily510 Quote
Gargantuan Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 The fact that you want to be honest with yourself by getting a TR tells the priesthood leader interviewing you that at least you want to be honest. Very few people are perfectly honest, but everyone can try to perfectly honest. God knows this as well as the Interviewer does. Quote

The question is, "Have you been honest?"And I think it is an opportunity to BE honest. If something is bothering you about your dealings with your fellow man, it is an opportunity for repentance before entering the House of God. Quote

Guest Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I don't look at the Temple Recommend Interview as like a Job Interview where you are trying to position yourself to get the job - embellishing the good parts, diminishing the weaknesses, so you can impress the interviewer and hopefully land the job. No, the Temple Recommend Interview is an opportunity for you to self-assess. To look into your life and determine for yourself if you think you are worthy to enter the Temple. A perfect example of this is the tithing question. You may be paying less tithes than the Mormon next door with the same income... that doesn't matter. What matters is if YOU honestly believe you are paying a full tithe. If your honest answer is YES, then you're good on that question. If your conscience nags at you, then you might want to bring it up to the bishop to discuss so you can have confidence in your answer to the question. Quote
