Looking at this in comparison to the dust bowl years, this drought is continuing and California has had it's 5th hottest year on record when parts were already in a multi-year drought. 

 

They are expecting continued warmer and dry weather for the next three months. Then they hope for an El Nino but they predict a weak to moderate El Nino which doesn't sound that good when they need a strong one to bring rain to the region.

Wow, this drought just keeps going with no end in sight in the far West.

 

This research just came out today saying that 2014 was the dryest year in California in 1,200 years!

 

They need more than a year’s supply of water to make up losses, with even record rains falling in California this week being unable to seriously affect their problem. It’ll take at least several unusually wet years to recoup the losses. However, the scientist warned that more hot droughts are “assured”...as weird weather is effecting the whole earth...Nasa's data shows that 2014 is on track to become the hottest year ever recorded, also bear in mind that the 10 warmest years ever recorded have all occurred since 1998. Recent data from the NOAA said that the first 10 months of 2014 were the hottest since record keeping began.

 

 

Weird weather is what started this thread and it hasn't stopped yet...

This drought is still ongoing with major 25 percent water restrictions in California, 10% in parts of Nevada. Little water in the major dams that feed these areas. No end in sight. Most of Texas is currently in drought as well.
