Tcamp Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 Just investigating the LDS Church, ordered a Book of Mormon. Know of any books or conversion stories from Protestant Faith. Thanks. Quote
skippy740 Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 Welcome to the site! As far as conversion stories... I find there are a couple of types of stories: 1) The investigator was raised in another faith but isn't convinced of it, or hasn't attended in many years. 2) The investigator has been studying the doctrines of their faith and is looking for more complete answers. My guess would be that there are many more "type 1" conversion stories out there than "type 2"... but they are both out there. I was raised in the church, so my story probably wouldn't apply for what you're looking for. Quote
Tcamp Posted July 30, 2012 Author Report Posted July 30, 2012 Thanks for the info, I was raised in the Methodist church, got my degree in Theology, so to be truthful I have read alot of antimormon literature, but I just want to know the truth. I was wondering if there were any books about others from Protestant faith joing the LDS church. Thanks Quote
skippy740 Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 Just did a google search for "LDS Conversion stories from Methodist" and found this link:Mormon Converts - Sharing Stories of Faith and CourageI have not read the site or reviewed any of the stories, but it appears to be a 'legitimate' site for LDS faith promoting stories.Let me also point out that we have nothing to 'hide' and will be happy to share with you the truth... as we understand it.D&C 9:7-97 Behold, you have not understood; you have supposed that I would give it unto you, when you took no thought save it was to ask me.8 But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right.9 But if it be not right you shall have no such feelings, but you shall have a stupor of thought that shall cause you to forget the thing which is wrong; In all things, let the spirit be your guide as you study.I'll also point out this one:2 Timothy 1:77 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. There's no 'brainwashing' going on. Let the logic speak to your mind and your heart. Then let the spirit confirm it (or not) for you. Quote

skippy740 Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 I've been watching this YouTube clip for a while now, and this man (not yet a member) was raised as a Protestant. He has been attending the LDS church for the past 8 months (as of the recording of the video).I think you would find it helpful - as it is also from another investigator. Quote

I made it through about two minutes of his hour-long discourse. Can you summarize for those of us too impatient and callow to listen to the whole thing? Quote
