Guest Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) I don't know if Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are the same program but according to online sources, boys most certainly can start at age 6 (1st grade). They're different programs under the BSA. And yes, you can join when you start 1st grade. The LDS Church only has cub scouting from age 8, so you have to go to a different pack if you're younger than that. And yes, cub scouts do go overnight camping as well. But cubs and boy scouts rarely camp out together. Now, the church has 11-year-old scouts which is in-between cub and boy scouts (only the LDS church have this). They do camp with the boy scouts. Edited August 10, 2012 by anatess Quote
Bini Posted August 10, 2012 Author Report Posted August 10, 2012 Thank you for the clarification, Anatess. And yet when i was in the scouting program as young as 6 or 7 all the boys talked about girls.Well before any of us get excited, we should probably wait on Soul to specify what he meant by "scouting program", be it Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts. After reading various sites, it seems that the two groups do correlate with each other. Quote
Backroads Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Soulsearcher is most likely referring to Cub Scouts of the Scouting program--though it really is all Scouting. Quote
Soulsearcher Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 Yes i was refering to cub scouts. up here we start as beavers, then swim up to cubs and then go into scouts. I only went as far as my first year in scouts as i really didn't like most of the kids in the group. I think i only did one or two camps and i was always the youngest one there and it really left me feeling out of place. Quote
